Fantastic game, Runs like crap.

The fights are great, the monsters are great, the world itself is great, but this game really is as difficult to run as you've likely heard.

I love monster hunter, but I cannot in good faith recommend you play this game on PC. Console? Sure go for it. But the PC version does not, and likely will not, ever run well. Sometimes it struggles to even maintain 60 frames during the cutscenes. Will I continue to play it, probably (although that's getting harder to do with each update, more on that later). Like I said it really is a great game, but this review will remain as not recommended until I see the little number in the steam overlay say 60fps.

Also, don't bother trying to co-op the game until you get to high rank. The MH World team did not learn their lesson and made the story fights a huge pain to do co-op in this game, too. "Oh, well we want the players to experience the cutscenes before the fight." Cool, make us watch them too so we can all start the fight from the beginning instead of joining. We know what we signed up for when we're doing co-op stuff. It's not that hard. The Rise team did it, so why can't you?

EDIT: After some time I can confirm, it's not just me. The game takes longer to load and stabilize frame rate-wise with each update. Likely because of the extra stuff being added and little to no changes happening with optimization.

If there aren't some serious optimization changes in the near future, there will be people, maybe even myself, who won't be able to play the game AT ALL because of the increased load from running the game. A complete and utter failure on the dev team here. If you guys had spent half the time you spent making needlessly detailed eating scenes and animations on optimizing the game, we wouldn't be having these issues.

Great game, great graphics, interesting story. If you liked Detroit: Become Human, or anything else having to do with Quantic Dream, you'll like this game. Haven't tried the 2-player mode yet, but it looks like a blast. Again, great game.

I love pretty much everything about this game. The story, the characters, the art style (which is unique and fantastic). This game has so much going for it. It's a great RPG with real-time strategy (assuming you don't look up how to cheese every level and beat it in 2 turns).
The tank controls are a little wonky sometimes, but other than that, I really can't think of any negative things to say about this game. Fantastic!
