Wake up Martyr, we have a mandate to fulfill.

Play the first one, then play this one. I'd recommend playing it the way it is but there are settings for pu... The squimish and the stu... Mechanically challenged. The game is made by an autistic Asian who loves weapons, gore, anime girls and weird lore and it shows in the best (although it took me some time to get used to the gore part) way possible.

If you liked the first one, you will most likely enjoy the sequel. It improves some areas but largely provides you more of what was already good. Play the first one then move to this one.

Destiny Souls. That's basically it. The combat is just Destiny (I'm not saying it as a bad thing though) while progression, resource management, atmosphere are more Dark Souls or Bloodborne. Despite me giving it a thumbs down I think it's a decent game that feels good to play, runs decently well and has a neat setting. Based on the overall reception it's safe to say you have a pretty high chance of liking it. My problem comes from the low variety and misleading genres.

It's said that this game is a roguelite extraction shooter and I have problems with everything except for shooter. The roguelite elements here are very minimal: enemy and loot placement on maps is random and you get small (usually VERY small) buffs upon clearing an enemy camp. That's the roguelite part, basically. The extraction element is also kinda minimal: you go into a small map to grind witchfire for upgrades and progression and you sometimes complete side objectives, again, for progression. Loot is very minimal and feels more like unlocks in a metroidvania or a souls-like. If you die you can come back for your body and then everything is fine again.

So, basically, you are meant to grind the same maps over and over to get stronger and unlock side objectives and bosses. The maps are small and they don't change. Combat is a bit samey since the game has aggressive damage fall-off even with weapons you'd expect to be good at range like bolt action rifles. Because the difficulty can ramp up quite a bit with gnosis you are better off using weapons you've already upgraded which lowers the incentive to experiment with guns as you will be fighting at close range anyway just with a weaker (until upgraded, usually) gun. Looting is boring as the cool stuff is tied to progression and completion.

Long story short, combat feels good, the setting is cool, exploration is somewhat nice but very limited and rarely rewarding, looting is boring, variety is low, grind is high. I'd buy it for half the price. People who compare it to Painkiller haven't played Painkiller in quite some time if ever and for those who want a single player Hunt - try Blood West.

So when is the mmo coming out? A dating sim? Although I wish there was an FPS based on it.

Will be a 10/10 when Fatshark gives me my mommy of battle (I'll settle for an eldar, just don't tell the Emperor).
