$30 price point makes it an easy recommend for me. Great PVE. Don't shoot and death to robots!

It is a masterpiece, John Paradox. Complete, comprehensive. It captures the Map-Excel experience.

Greatest GSG OAT at the current moment is still EU4 followed by HOI4. However EU5 is a stand alone 10/10 masterpiece first day of launch and will eclipse both HOI & EU4 in short time as the best GSG OAT. once these issues start to get worked out. They got so much correct it is easier to list what they got wrong.

engine limitations: first thing to get fixed with time is the overall performance, however this could be an issue long term depending on the bad Paradox game engine.

brain dead AI: somehow the AI is bad if not as bad as EU4 AI they dont have a strategic thought within the AI despite claiming it would be much improved.

Late game impact / automation: sluggish and boring late game just like in EU4 most players stop their games after roughly the 1600s. (cant complain EU4 had this same exact issue)

Lingering UI issues: EU4 still has the best UI and I think it will stay that way long term. EU4 map was crisp and simple. Map modes in EU4 a bit better. I was skeptical about keeping 3D photos of rulers but they refined it and got it right.

The economy, trade and population mechanics is for me the backbone of this 10/10 game and why I think itll be the best GSG OAT. I can always change UI with Ironman compatible mods / FPS enhancer mods when they are created since the EU5 map style isnt as crisp as the EU4 map style IMO. However some map modes are much better in EU4 than in EU5 and vice versa.

sweaters bruh I hate this game with a passion.

Better than lethal company however this game is a fad and will get stale. Worth 10 however for the price... its great.

edit: (~1 year later: not a fad, peak of the genre)
