The dev's seem to have given up on the IP and are just shoveling out something to pay the bills. Optimization is non-existent, net play is terrible, the story is still mostly about Lilith despite her being in about 5% of the game, gameplay feels like bl3 but more clunky, the builds aren't fun to use, and early dlc with many more planned as a final slap in the face.

I've played all the Borderlands games except tale's, I regret buying this one and plan on not buy the next one or any dlc.

The only good Paradox Interactive game I have played. Don't let my name fool you I do NOT like this company's game design, Marketing Practices, or dlc policy. And since I don't buy dlc I know the time I have to enjoy this game is limited until they choke it full of so much dlc that the base game no longer works properly. This is the one game of theirs I find bearable enough to actually enjoy; the rest are just a mess of unnecessarily unexplained menus under interesting concepts.

I could go on for a lot longer but I'll just leave it at that.

This is the sequel to CoH 1 I always wanted.

I had a physical copy CoH 1 gold edition before I even had a steam account, and I loved that game. A WWII based rts (two things I was very interested in at the time) with three separate campaigns and I could play skirmish games against the ai as much as I wanted. For a kid with dial-up internet, this was one of the best games ever. Of course I beat every campaign and sunk countless hours into the skirmish mode. I was never that good but I still had tons of fun.

A few years back (unfortunately just a few months before CoH3 was announced) I picked up Coh2 on steam. I was excited to potentially get the chance to play online after I learned the game a bit (now that I had moved to better internet). They had made a lot of changes, some were good, some were weird, and some I feel were just made to set them apart from other rts games. I don't think I ever even beat either campaign. Although I liked playing Soviets in skirmish. Having a eastern and western front just felt strange, and having only 1 axis faction on both felt awkward. There were a lot of other things I didn't care for; commanders were less thematic than the doctrines of CoH1, American tank crews could get out of their vehicle (and only Americans), American and British bases, hmgs and at guns had reduced range, the Soviet hmg, no axis campaign, and that's just a few.

CoH3 plays more like CoH1, but with more depth and experience behind it. First off the battleforces are more like doctrines from the first game than the commanders of CoH2. They are more thematic, but now you have more choices within a battleforce than you have had in previous games. You start with 3 for each faction but can get a 4th (2 are free the other 2 you can get through dlc or earn through in game currency) this means you have less options than in CoH2, but I feel it is better for balance and less overwhelming for new players. All factions now have a more traditional style rts base (yes even the British for the first time in a CoH game). Custom games can now have axis and allied factions on the same team. Hmgs and at guns got their range back. They kept some things that worked from Coh2 like the expanded unit rosters. And added a new vehicle for US and axis factions to to bring a wrecked vehicle back from the dead (an expanded variation of destroyed vehicles sometimes being able to be recrewed and repaired from 2). And then there are the campaigns. The axis campaign makes a comeback, with the North Africa campaign. It plays more like a normal CoH or rts campaign. But then there is the Italy campaign. You play as the allies (both US and UK) on a dynamic campaign map as they push their way through Italy. You control what armies you have, where they go, and what battle to have next. Attacking or defending most cities will start a normal mission or a skirmish. Which is the first time I've heard of a rts campaign with skirmish missions in it (I may be wrong about that), but I absolutely love this decision.

Overall my favorite CoH game I've played, and the first one I've played online.

I want to like this game, I really do. But it really feels like a game made for people who have at least played some of the last three games in the series because god the tutorial is awful. Playing through it gives me a false sense of security that make me feel like I know what I'm doing, and then the war starts and I realize I haven't been doing anything correctly.

If you like playing games that you hardly understand what is going on than maybe this game is for you.

Probably the best multiplayer shooter I've ever played, it takes the idea of a slow paced strategic shooter with a short time to kill and pushes it to the max. Some of the devs choices seem questionable though and every few years the community seems to have a small exodus, but so far it has always bounced back (to a degree). However it's happened enough that the games future is an ever present concern.

After all these years, it's just a glorified base builder.
The quests are one dimensional and fleeting, and the ethical conundrums that they pose just leave me feeling like the game it self just isn't worth the minimal effort it puts you through.

Collecting rare ships after finally finding a good way to make money is the most exciting part.
