A good and different flavour in the capitalist/management scene. The macroeconomic mechanics are well balanced with a broad range of competitors and dynamic variables influencing your success in each region. The game itself is very customisable from the start screen.

The game does a great job of making you feel like your at the same level with the AI, great amounts of competition, uniqueness and variability with 300 companies in the world, much better than most games with competition.

The game immerses you with news/magazines and reviews which are very entertaining to go through, I would like to be able to see the various info about real companies between turns for longer though. Additionally, the dev has provided some pre-made models of vehicles to help you along the way, I like seeing how they modernize over time, very cool.

The UI is mostly straightforward and simple but could use some guidance and tools to macromanage particularly once you expand beyond your starting region in the mid/late game.

The development and research system could be improved particularly for anyone interested in getting ahead of the competition something which the game doesn't let you do. You can invest in research but you'll be unlocking a total of about 5-15 different research components for each part. Each component will be allowed to be unlocked by both player and AI at a certain date after which your team needs to have a minimum research level to unlock, that's it.

There is no engineering skill for your business; The quality of the components you make is solely defined by how much you move the sliders to the right and so every competitor is as good as making a part with the exact same sliders as the next. I'd like to see this system implemented somehow along with other departments in the future.

When developing components, much like when developing vehicles, it would be great to see the components in a 3d model and bonus points if we can get a little animation too.

Great little game and I'm looking forward to what we'll see from it in the future.

Disclaimer (length)
I am writing a review to such a thorough extent due to my passion in tycoon and managment games. Any game developers exhibiting effort and innovation in this area deserve feedback for their product.

The developer is showing a lot of love to the game surprisingly and is keeping up with bugs and crashes reported.

This game has displayed a pioneering design and depth to game development games with its focus on designing a complete experience of the world of game developing as opposed to the raw game developing structure of all other game dev games. The game lacks in areas that are of minute importance (partly) and can easily be fixed with tweaks, adjustments and additions to content. I will go on to describe the pros followed by the cons of the game:

(Scroll all the way down for verdict)

Pros

Game depth

This is the most innovative part of the game. The developer/s has done a great job of including as many aspects of the gaming development world as he can with features ranging from group activities to an array of individual game development skills and traits exhibited uniquely by staff.

Liveliness

The game has managed to create an interactive atmosphere both in the immediate scope of the player (in the player's game developing studio) and the world in which the player interacts. Let me explain

Staff will chat around about different events going on in the game world and even the games they create and release. The fact that most of the information they talk about is accurate and in some cases enlightening (in that they might talk about the features of a new engine which came out recently and other stuff) creates life to the game. Every employee seems to be alive and be able to articulate their own thoughts. Something which has not been seen in other games.

The game has also done a good job involving the gaming world by creating rivalries between gaming studios and adding a plethora of events which take place around the world. From gaming expos to platform and technology releases; most possible events that take place are there.

Modes

Game modes is a feature new and unique to the game dev genre in this game. while new and uncertain, it does add a lot of potential and from the top of anyone's head one can imagine the possible scenarios that can be rendered and simulated. The reason why it's in the pros is because it has potential as opposed to the quality of the modes currently in place.

Options

The game does a decentjob of making the player feel like they can chose to do anything they please. Almost every component of the game has options associated to it that the player can change in some form and the game developing process is a grand example of this feature. You'll find that when a game is being developed there are about 10 decisions you can make associated to the game. In some areas however, the contrary is evident but those options are more related to objects and materials.

Cons

Overdiversification (The root of all good and evil)

While the developer/s were able to create this game and encompass a great scope of the game developing world. It feels like it has created issues in places that needed a larger focus and especially the most important aspect which is game development (which I will mention later).

Game development
Easily the most important aspect of the game has had both a positive influence and a negative. You'll find that they've innovated the game developing process by staff interests; Contributing staff can boost an aspect of the game by giving input from their interest (a staff member may have an interest in martial arts which will boost the combat aspect if you include it.).

While this may be a great addition to the game developing process, the dev/s have overpowered it; if you do not have a staff member boosting an aspect then the game will perform worse. Seems legit so far. However, if you do not include an aspect of the game which is not boosted by employees at all, then the game will also perform better. In fact, in most cases if you manage to only include boosted aspects in a game then it will likely recieve 100% for that section.

Leading to the following problem. A game can lack in aspects directly related to the theme-genre and still get 100%. You can create a game about World War 2 and if you don't include guns, it's okay as long as every aspect which can be boosted is boosted. You'll likely get 100% if obviously you're including all other features on the engine. This makes for an easily exploitable system and at heart, it chips away at my interest slowly, game after game.

Objects

The only good thing coming out of the placeable objects in the game really are tiles, it's nice to be able to change the floor for once in a game dev game. However.... inhale

There is a miniscule amount of objects in the game, lack of diversity and progression to unlock new items really makes this area of the game dull. Employees do not care about the environment in which they work in either and thus all you really need is a bit of food, water, a toilet and you're good to go. This however isn't a very important aspect of the game, it just kind of exists. It would be nice to see performance enhancing environments such as in other games or employees desiring a minimal standard for the environment.

Tutorial

I think the developers had the wrong idea of tutorial when they created story mode. Most of the revies I've seen say there is no tutorial. Well there is, but it's called story mode. I believe a tutorial should be created to guide the player through all the aspects of the game without caring about money. Give him 2 mil and explain literally everything without pressure. In story mode (tutorial mode), you have been hired by an investor to make games. He walks you through the basics and then says "ok now I want a game in 2 years or you're done"... and you really are done if you dont satisfy, if you take your time you're done. Not a very friendly new player environment.

In my opinion story mode is a good addition to the game. It would be nice to create some sort of personal achievement scheme where the next goal is to create a game which sells "x" amount with no time limit while increasing the challenge as the player moves to next levels etc. That would be very interesting.

Tutorials should have NO CHALLENGE to the player, they should be simple and complete going from square one to a complete knowledge of the game while guiding the player. I would love to see this implemented and trust me, so would the rest of the community.

Overall
The game has made undoubted innovation and pioneering into the game development theme and deserves credit for it. There was a lot of effort shown through it and as I mentioned earlier, most of the cons are minute issues which can be easily remedied. Some of these issues are however very important and need fixing asap. Remember this is a game developing game and that aspect should shine above all else. A great effort nonetheless and I'm hopeful the dev/s maintain this momentum and continue to care for this game.

The game is worth the $10 it asks for

The Verdict as of 14/3/18 for this game is
8/10
