It's a very good game, put simply. It's a text-based RPG of course, so get ready for a lot of reading. The game still does a good job using limited images of the environments, and music, to help you get invested into what's going on. The rest of mostly theater of the mind, the game encourages you to fill in the gaps with your own imagination. To that extent, the game does sometimes leave the actual conclusions of some things to be entirely up to your interpretation, and doesn't quite give you an idea of what actually happened.

Overall though, the game has an amazing story to tell, and it tells it well. You can easily end up falling into character, playing the game as if you were the Roadwarden, making the decisions you believe they would. It doesn't have much replay value beyond a run or two, as it shouldn't take more than two or three runs that see just about all their is to see. But for that first run, the game is genuinely an amazing experience.

quite simply, this game is just pretty amazing.

it's one of those games where either you do love it, or just aren't interested in it. i didn't like it much at first, playing on classic meant i kept instantly dying to random things all the time. but that was just an opportunity to learn, try a different build, and go back at it. once i finally got a good run, i did admittedly start save-scumming a bit. i would've had hundred more hours in before beating it had i kept true to the intention of classic mode.

the game has an immense amount of content to explore. some parts of the world are set in stone, but a lot of the rest is randomized. no run is ever the same, which means it constantly stays fresh.

oh also you can give walls sentience. i don't know if this has a practical purpose, but you can do it and i love that.

i would absolutely recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of RPGs, games with infinite replayability, and/or just games that are immensely difficult yet satisfying once you succeed against those threats that used to kill you in one turn.
