The game could really benefit from some major quality-of-life improvements—like fast travel between zones and the ability to move and heal during combat. The blocking mechanic feels underpowered and needs a serious rework. Progression is also far too unclear for most players; adding a journal or objective tracker would help keep things on course. Plus, there are plenty of bugs, including invisible enemies and even bosses.

That said, the developers have done an impressive job crafting the game’s visual style and world building. With a few patches and some targeted tweaks—like the ones I’ve mentioned—it could absolutely be worth your time. I would love to be able to finish this game as I believe beneath the frustration, there’s a genuinely fun and passionate experience waiting to shine.

EDIT: The developer is really great at answering questions in discussions, they are also updating quality of life changes fairly regularly. Changing my review to positive as my issues are slowly disappearing haha

Please address the crashing and performance problems. The game ran smoothly before the DLC patch, but now DirectX 12 causes frequent crashes. I’ve tried launching with DirectX 11, but I’m still experiencing frame drops despite minimal system usage.

The enemies in the game hardly respond to your attacks, regardless of whether you're firing a rifle at point-blank range or swinging your sword. The world's visuals are attractive, but there's minimal interaction with the environment. Essentially, it involves collecting gold and health potions, burning a few cobwebs, and admiring distant mountains. This game might have been impressive over a decade ago, but now it feels outdated. Wait for a sale and, whatever you do, avoid purchasing the premium edition.

Performance is terrible, combat feels clunky and 30 fps cut scenes... refunded. Too many shills on these reviews.

Imagine Dark souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro and Paper Mario had a love child together, then threw away their abomination and left it to fend for itself in a 1930's era island...That's Cuphead. 11/10 Would gamble again.
