Early Access Review
I have more than 1k hours in this game and I've been playing since the second play test. I want clarify some things.
For those who are confused on how I have so many hours, this game was released over 1 year ago but on its own launcher outside steam. There is an existing player base around 10k - 15k players who bought and play the game well before the steam release

The game being P2W:
Update (Hotfix #53):
Legendary accounts (bought the game) have 9 character slots, an extra stash tab, can go high roller mode (ranked/hardcore) and can buy and sell items in the marketplace. Squire accounts (F2P) have 1 character slot, don't have and extra tab, can't go high roller and can only buy items in the market. The benefits that legendary accounts have don't impact in any way the PvP experience in the normal gamemode that are available to F2P players. There is NO P2W.

Skins:
Cosmetic skins gives a positive status and a negative status (like +3 vigor but you can't wear helmets), some skins in fact can give a bit of advantage in certain cenarios, but mostly won't make a relevant difference, most skins can be obtained by just playing the game to accumulate blue shards and completing merchant's quests.

The game being marketed as F2P but having a paywall:
A more appropriate term is free to try or extended demo. in normal gamemode you can experience all maps and all bosses the only thing you're missing out is the high roller mode which have a 100 gold entry and is way more punitive than norms. In high roller you'll go against advanced players with no gear restriction and mobs that do twice damage, have more life and move twice as fast, some even have different attack patterns. I agree that they should allow for more than 1 character slot.

The game has a very immersive feel and a slow paced combat that rewards timing, awereness and planning, don't try to facetank enemies because even a goblin can kill you. Most monster have clear patterns of attacks that can be dodged by just learning their mechanics. If you enjoy immersive and punitive experiences feel free(not so much) to try.

Update
I didn't expect this review to gain so much visibility so I think it's only fair to also address some of the negative aspects as well.

UI and navigation:
The usability is very convoluted and hard to understand at first, especially the merchants section and inventory/stash management. Gold in this game is also an item that takes up inventory space, when you buy items with merchants you need to fill the cost requirement and confirm to get the item you want. Inventory management is very clunky and you need to move items around a lot, there are plenty of hidden commands that makes the chore a little easier, like shift + right click to move instantly between your inventory and stash.

Development cycle:
Until now, their development cycle seemed very chaotic, their iterations didn't seem to follow a solid path and they often seemed lost on their own vision for the game. They kept removing and adding the same features over and over, reintroducing things that already didn't work just to remove them again later, nerfing classes for no aparent reason and not addressing classes that needed a nerf. They also have a dedicated test server that wasn't well integrated in their workflow, crazy features like multiclassing were being tested in the main game instead of the test server, that in theory was exactly for that purpose.

Balancing, gear power and meta:
In high roller, combat is more like rock paper and scissors, you either have a good match up against another class or you don't, there's not much you can do about it. Combat also becomes a stat check, whoever has the biggest numbers wins. There is an ongoing meta strategy called "buffball" were a team takes two buffing classes (bard, cleric) to enhance a DPS (figher, mage, barbarian), the devs tried to nerf this combo multiple times but without success.

I want to remind that this game is still in early access and has come a long way since their launch. The devs are very approachable and often interacts with the community, responding to messages on their discord (even sassy ones) and participating in streammer interviews.
