This game is a true gem. First of all, the story and the characters are beautifully written. It's unique, gets you interested from the get-go, and keeps you hooked for the rest of the game. I won't deny shedding a tear at a certain scene.

The choice of art style and music is perfect and completely in harmony. The visuals are stunning, and the game runs smoothly.

The gameplay itself is innovative. Turn-based combat is nothing new, of course, but the combination of QTEs on your attacks and dodge/parry mechanics makes the turn-based combat very engaging.

Honestly, I could keep rambling about what a beautiful gem this is, but instead of reading this review, you should honestly just buy the game and enjoy it yourself — it is definitely worth it!

Game keeps crashing, had a hard time making it past tutorial since you can't even have a save between the first cutscene and the sorting hat.

I really like the concept, but damn I hate playing against bots. And you can't choose wether you play bots or players.

Edit: After spending much more time in the game (and money on microtransactions) I have to revisit this review. The game is a fun time spender. Games are short enough that you can pop out your phone on the toilet, play a fast game, and move on. But is also fun enough that you can spend a couple hours in this game.

Pc and mobile has cross-save, so you keep your collection.

The problem I had initially about bots is only for the first games when you get your first wave of cards unlocked. This is kind of a tutorial where you learn the basic mechanics. I still find however the game should show you that you are playing bots, and maybe have a hopt out mechanic?

finally, the game is grindy and pay to win however you turn it. If you want to reach a high rank or win the infinity conquest, you will need to have all the cards (or fitting substitutes that are same level in the meta) to build at least one meta deck.

Some of the meta cards are unlocked during the tutorial time, and you will be able to make a (close to) meta deck of ungoing and unreveal. Both are decks that are playable in all meta's but will never have a awesome winrate. But if you want to have different archtypes, you will probarbly have to look into spending money, at least for the battlepass every month. And then yet you can't craft cards like in other card games, so you will need to wait for the right rotation to unlock the cards you need... But, keep in mind, a deck is 16 cards, so you aren't looking at collections as big as other card games.

Finally, the upgrade mechanic is really satisfying. You get boosters (currency for each card, think as in clash royal) you can use to upgrade your card, this is a cosmetic upgrade, but at the same time, this is how you reach a higher level and gain unlocks.

My final statement. Give it a try. If you want a quick, addicting toilet game, this is definitly it.
If you want to make it a game you spend a decent amount of hours in and want to climb in the ranks, you will probarbly look at a paywall that you either don't mind or turns you off.

Early Access Review
Finely the battlefield we waited for since BF3...
The success of this game just shows how desperate we got for a good bf-like game!
This game has so much QOL things, and small things that other games just don't have, if you can look past the graphics, or maybe even like them, it's worth every penny

BUT PLEASE
DON'T LET ME DROP MY MEDIC PACKS AS A MEDIC, IF I'M NOT GETTING POINT REWARDS FOR TEAMMATES USING THEM!

also, give support more weapon options, give support the options to DMR and assault rifles, especially assault rifles, idk why they don't have access to them

I'd love to recommend this game, had alot of fun, playing as Colt, with a friend of mine permanently invading me to make my time more difficult. Hell of a lot of fun!

Then I dediced, you know what, I want a piece of those invasion shenanigans, so i hopped on to Julliana and my god, that is where it all went wrong.

Invasion is peer to peer, with Colt as the host.
In 10 invasions I haven't had a single Colt with "good enough" connection to make the experience bareble.

The best I had was rubberbanding, but you could at least move and shoot. Jumping over cliffs you can forget cuz you will just get rubberbanded back to midair over a cliff and fall to your death. Going for a headshot with the sniper you can forget as well cuz it's impossible to know where Colt is exactly on his side of the network compared to where he is rendered on your screen, resulting in everything being a miss or a bodyshot at best.

The worst I had was litteraly unplayable, like, litteraly. You can move, shoot, interact, swap weapons or abilities or even turn your head. Everything gets rubberbanded back. You just either leave the game, or wait on the spawn point until Colt finds you and kills you. No other option, everything else you try will just result in a rubberbanding back to spawn.

"Why then not review it positive based on the main part of the game, playing as Colt":
If nobody invades you in time, you get an AI Julliana, and my god is that AI bad and boring to play against. The Julliana AI is for some reason worse then the AI of the common enemies scattered around the map. The invasions is a core part of the gameplay loop (see what I did there). If I didn't have a friend constantly invading me I'd have missed that part and had a lot less fun.

There are 3 problems with the matchmaking:
- Colts have bad internet connection
- Matchmaking doesn't check how good your connection is to Colt
- You don't get an option to decide what the minimum connection level is you want to join, either via defining a region where you want the server to look, or like some fighter games, giving you a prompt before you join that says how good Colts connection is to you and asking if you want to join or not.

In my opinion, the game should have a dedicated server system, where as long as nobody invades you, Colt plays locally, but when someone invades you, you transfer to a server close by. If no servers are available then sure, make a fallback to peer-to-peer, but only then.

"But then Colt's with bad connection will have a bad experience?"
Well then they should just play in offline mode right? the game gives you the option to switch to "online", "friends only" or "offline". If you have a bad connection and want to play singleplayer, then that is just fine, but don't play online giving every Julliana that invades you a bad experience.

In my opinion, this game can be alot of fun and had so much potential. But to make the game good and recommendable, they should go back to the drawing table and put in some development work. Since this game has been released for a while and that hasn't happened, I don't think it ever will, which is a shame.
