As someone who played the japanese version already, I have to say I personally liked the first game more. This is because I liked Aster more than Alex. The sequel is also way way tamer than the first game, so this may be depending on you a good or a bad thing. Other than that, if you liked the first game you will surely like the second one as well then.

So let's move on to the english port.
The localisation is as good as the previous game was, which is for me already the biggest plus point. When I heard Alice Soft will self publish Evenicle 2, I feared we might get a similiar translation like White Wings in a worst case scenario. I am very glad this isn't the case.
Aside that, some folks may complain about the mosaics but this leaves me rather cold. I am so used to that. Why get angry over some mere pixels? And it ain't like most eroge have bad art for the genitals. Like the first game had.
It should also be said this demo has content cut out from it due to Steam policies. However Alice Soft already said they plan to publish the game on other store fronts, so aslong that will happen I don't see it as a reason to give this review a negative rating. Steam isn't really a good site to sell eroge as we all know sadly.

So, all in all, this Demo is quite solid in my book. I really look forward to Alice Soft self publishing more games, if they keep up this quality. It would keep out all the needless drama and shenanigans from Mangagamer and give us fast releases. Alice Soft only announced Evenicle 2 a month ago and we already got the Demo. If only the Rance series could get that treatment...

After seing so many negative reviews I felt compelled to write a short positive one myself since that game deserves far better than that.

That was quite a lovely game with great artstyle and design be it in the CGs and in the game itself;
really good sountrack;
nice action metroidvanian-lite gameplay(I recommend to play it in the standard difficulty though, otherwise it becomes too easy);
really likable flashed out characters;
quite over ambitious world building and story from what the series is aiming for but it's really good so far what they did here. I just have to see more since this game is more like a prologue of a series;

With which i can also list my only complain about the game even if it's quite a marginal one. The game is really short, it's end out of nowhere from what feels more like a prologue than even a first chapter of a series. It still can give you 10+ hours fun, so for that price that is quite okay for me. I still would have preferred if it was a bit longer and not just ended right before things started to get interesting story wise. Nontheless I look forward to play the second game of the series once it's out of early access.
Not really a negative point, but I preferred the japanese dub over the mandarin which is the initially set audio, so I had to change it. the japanese cast was quite good for what roles they played.

Well, as I said the game deserves way better than the mixed review score it currently has. I hope more folks give this series a try and not just go past it because of that rating.

The Kickstarter for VenusBlood Hollow is still running:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ninetail/venusblood-hollow-english-localization-project/posts

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me start this review with a simple yet convincing point: Buy the game so we will get more games from Nintetail here in the West!
While you're at it, better buy the game from JAST store to give them even more support. Though, if you simply wish to buy from steam out of laziness or whatever reason, you have to get the FREE patch from JAST. (yes I wrote it in capslock since almost every hobbo is asking whether the patch is free or not here)

For those who are unfamiliar with the Venus Blood series or Ninetail as a whole, the elements you can expect here in Frontier are as followed:

- A more darker themed eroge with with a heavy focus on corruption and tentacle fetish and with high quality art that has something for everyone. That is already as rare as it can get in the West, where we only get generic SoL moege after moege thrown at us.
- Strategy gameplay that will keep you 100+ hours busy with replayability and a variety of multiple endings
- The satisfaction of playing an anti-hero protagonist thrown into a story full of scheming, betrayal and cunning against your demonic peers, all for the goal of becoming the next Demon King.
- A lovely norse themed world with equally lovely goddesses (and even lovelier demon sisters) and other characters with all of them having their own ambitions and place in the story. No one of them feels left out field or shallow.

Furthermore, thanks to the Kickstarter campaign the the whole game was redone almost from ground up, adding new content and a bit of tweeking in the gameplay as well. So even if you are one of the ones that played the original game in Japanese you get practically a whole new experience with this International edition.

And for those that worry too much if the gameplay won't be too hard or complicated for them, fear not. As long you don't play in the hardest settings and go for the highest scores, or you have dyslexia or any other aversion to simply read into the basic mechanics you shouldn't have any problems with beating the game. And even if you may reach a bad end due to making false decisions, nothing's stopping you from restarting a campaign. Once you know what you have to do after the first time playing it's easy and fast to progress through the game again.

Well, what else is there to say? Only that I hope you all have very much fun with this little gem.

PS.: Fenrir and Jorm are best girls.

PPS.: I really hope we get the Gears of Dragoon 1 and 2 next or sometime in the near future.

Just writing a quick review, but I gotta say the game is really good. It's been a while since I last played it, but it still lingers in my memory. The game got great Disgaea-esque gothic artsyle and charm, good and sufficient gameplay with a good mixture of dating sim and SRPG, an interesting story and twists, nice charming characters which fits the gotihic touched up world.
The game is really more than 10 times worth the money you pay in a sale as one can say from my gameplay time.
PS. Sloth and Mammon are best girls.

Say No to paid mods. Also this is the last game I bought from Betheda. Thanks but no thanks.

Really, really sad to see only a handful of reviews about this game. Only 38 at the time I type this and that after over a year on steam. Hence why I write this review. XBlaze and Arc System Works deserve the support.

What can I say about the game? Everyone who loves BlazBlue like me should absolutely take it. Even if you wouldn't consider yourself a big fan of VNs. Story wise it's also not too complicated for new comers. The basics are more than easy explained for BlazBlue standards. Great Animation, Music and Seiyuus (Especially liked Es and Unomaru).
If I could complain about one thing it would only be that I would have loved if they offered the soundtrack as download as it's often the case with Arc System games.
