Well Inever guess I'd say "I just made this catgirl twerk".

I can honestly call Night in the Woods one of the best story based games Ive played in a long time. The games mature writing mixed with a well writen cast of characters that all feel realistic and make you care about them even if you dont care about their personalities.

Synopsis: The game is about a young girl coming home after dropping out of college and getting back into the look with her old friends and dying small town. I wont say anymore because you need to play them game to really experience the storyline.

Gameplay: Its a mixture of dialogue and choice based conversation. Platforming, random minigames, and some guitar hero. They also have a completely different game added in but I'll say no more. It all works so well and plays off the great art style almost perfectly.

Soundtrack: The games music helps set the mood of each environment and does a mix of feel good nature with moody and creepy. I was never bored or tempted to put on my own music over the games soundtrack.

Tl;Dr this game is a truely unique video game and anyone on steam should get it.

Leave it to platinum games to prove me wrong..the game is great! I originally disliked the game mostly because the artstyle and platinums over the top style. However after sinking just a few hours into the game im already hooked. The combat system is more than just a button masher due to the Ill just say it witch dodge, mixing in light and heavy attacks. While also using character specific features and of course slamming into them as cars. The map is actually a mini hubworld you go around in looking for whatever objective you need to go to, collectables, secrets and the lot. You know the stuff games SHOULD come with in most cases.

You can actually buy moves and upgrade your combat to have various combos, parries, and shockingly weapon drops. Literally it has diablo styled weapon drops and character upgrades. Each character can use various weapons and some are locked per character. It makes sense because I cant see bumble bee using a hammer or mace twice his size.

My own personal like for the game is the fact that it uses alot of the actors from the original G1 cartoon!

I would say the games story is almost pretty much not much to go on, Autobots must stop the bad guys. Pretty much sums up the entire story so if you want this for story...I uhh I mean its platinum games..And though yes the game is fun I PERSONALLY am distracted by the blocky bulky frames of the transformers from the G1 era doing these limber and flexible dodges...its silly as hell but hell its a video game and again thats just me, its not a huge enough negative to even come close to telling people NOT to buy the game.

The only real negative is the graphics and some sound issues. Yes it has that glossy shiney cel shaded look, but thats pretty much it. Not much detail and things sometimes looks plastic and frankly like an old dreamcast game. However the game runs great on my pc and it does have some optimization and runs at a constant 59-60fps. If it could be unlocked thatd be great! As for the sound at one occasion I did see it get out of sync with the cutscenes, and when you are going through some menus, because of how they have it styled it becomes muffled and quieter but you will notice some staticy noise. The music also is nothing to go home about, the typical butt-rock and plenty of guitar rifts to go with the action but its nothing stellar. I would have loved some memorable tracks to go with this game like the Cybertron series before it.

8.5/10 Buy this game now! Its dumb fun in the best way!
