So i just downloaded this game after seeing the release on Steam. 10 minutes of playing practice I decide to do a real match. OML the skill ceiling is still so high. New players are immediately destroyed by veteran players who I supposed played this when it was still a game mode in Citadel, and imo the controls are s###! I went to challenge a ball flying toward the net and awkwardly flew into the opposition to intercept the shot making the save, but my wand attack was 35 frames ago so they just get possession again to score on an empty net with me questioning everything that just happened. Still, the game will surely be better and I can't wait to get some more content and unlocks. One more thing, the passing intercepts are completely broken and need a rework. If my tm8 is on the other side of the field and i can pass the ball down to him, then the opposition should not be able to knock the ball away after it has left my hands to take possession because it is very awkward when that happens and everyone just freezes. If the opposition is swooping down to take the ball before it reaches my tm8, then I can understand that just like magnet physics in RL

2023 rolls around and it's all the same. You know what? I am still addicted, but now I'm done. Officially uninstalled and not coming back this time. Wasn't even a bad season, but I can't play this game anymore! I barely have time to grind since I work 9-5 and that's not even an excuse just reality of growing up. I might play it with friends on console but not on PC seriously anymore. Need to find other games to play in the meantime.. Here is my grievances still with this game back from 2019:

First off, I love this game and am addicted to it. Fortunately, the latest atrocious update has allowed me to get off for a while as I'm frustrated and bored playing an hour in! Fun for several hours, but totally not for new players anymore. Like most multiplayer games the skill ceiling is just too high here in 2019. Can't enjoy a simple game of casual 2's because now there's a club team ready to **** on you due to terrible matchmaking and winning games just doesn't feel satisfying anymore. Every casual game feels like ranked. Players are too aggressive now always going for demo plays or bumping into other players or even teammates trying to get to the ball! Even after you perfect that aerial dribble you practiced in free play and score one in game there's just no chill in these games anymore! Don't get me started on 1v1! Every match feels like sweaty tryhards are trying to win using broken pinch shots, fakes, trying to copy pro level team plays which leaves everyone confused, or wall mechanics and ball-chasing non stop keeping you from ever getting possession long enough to do anything cool or useful. This is fine in ranked as the point of those modes is to win and get better to be the best player on the pitch. Casual play is dead with the removal of Casual modes like Rumble, Hoops, and Dropshot. Now those modes are too infested with sweaty players in ranked games. The main point of this game is to have fun doing crazy shots by driving cars up a wall and hitting the ball towards the goal. The fun is lost here for many casual players like myself and is replaced by gamers who want to be famous on twitch one day. To its credit, Rocket League is amazing and deserves all of the praise it receives with new content and updates still going on, but it is becoming more of an Esport focused game rather than a game which also has an Esport community.
