Early Access Review
Added EAC which makes the game extremely unstable, I can barely even run it anymore without crashing 50 times.
Also this dev team is so out of touch... The irony is that EAC is mostly used to keep people from cheating in competitive games or skill based games.
Vrchat is a social game. You don't "win or lose" and there is almost no relative competition or skill based mechanics that would warrant using modifications instead of skill, like in games like Apex Legends for example.
Vrc is literally a virtual reality social platform. One that's been in Early-Access for over 5 years now and thrives off user created content. Despite the donations, funding, investors, and even a monthly subscription service, vrc development progress has been in a slow crawl, and has sometimes never acknowledged the actual content and safety features people have been begging for, for years. People took matters into their own hands and developed their own mods to help with stability and Qol features, to make the game more accessible, comfortable, fun, and safer. These mods have nothing to do with cheating to get ahead in a competition or skill based gameplay, because that's not really what vrc is.
With that being said, I personally believe this update is only being pushed to quell the egos of the devs. I mean, people have been asking for pfps in vrc for years and it only was available with mods. It took years for them to listen, and actually implement this option that people have been begging for, only for it to be available behind a paywall.
Then they push this update out under the guise of "safety features against malicious clients and hacks" when in reality, it destroys the hard work of tons of modders in favor of their own, just because others did it better, seems to me the only real logical reasoning for adding an anti cheating software, into a social platform. They're just disguising it as a "Safety Features Update." And it's even likely that the investors that gave this dev team millions are pressuring these changes too, as VRC is starting to become more corporate.
Whether or not you use mods, or even play or care about vrc, I don't care, but you cannot ignore the fact that this is still a spit in the face of the community as a whole, because this shows us all that their priorities aren't what they say they are.
ChilloutVR is a competitor to vrc, (made by people who used to play vrc I might add) and has only been out for about year and already is leagues ahead of vrc in terms of features and community support.
If you're fine with this in vrc, then good for you, but as for me, I'm going to a community where it's playerbase is actually better respected.

Tldr: EAC makes no sense in a social platform game and its only implemented bc the devs got mad that people made better mod updates than them. Whether the investors are pressuring them or not, this is still an extremely stupid move.
