So... it's about time I actually revise this. I love this game, hate this game and love to hate this game all at the same time. Yet, the hours pile on and on and I can't seem to stop booting it. This game is a beautiful hell and is still comparable to how I put it in my initial review, volatile as hell. The highs are very high and lows are maybe not very low anymore, but still low. The events and special game modes can be hit and miss, but overall a positive addition and I cant wait to see where bhvr goes with them. The gameplay loop is honestly pretty addicting for how extremely simple the core is. But you go past that core and its one of the most complex co-op/solo games I've played since Rainbow 6 Siege. But, this also kind of works to its advantage and disadvantage.

One thing I am partial to is Steams black or white reviewing platform and while I am mostly doing this for fun. I don't really want to say yes but I also can't say no. Having gotten into the game over a half decade ago, and the progressions system being a bit slower before. I feel its a hard game to get into and learn. But I don't have experience with new accounts so I don't know how forgiving "New Player" queue is or how long it lasts. One cool part about this game that I love is that you have such a massive roster of killers (not really gonna say survivors as they're just cosmetic, and the perks and items are what really matters) that are all fairly unique with different playstyles, counterplay and aesthetics. But that also really leans into the learning curve and not exactly in a positive way. You really have to get into the game to learn it, and someone who boots it up for the first time should probably be aware of that fact.

The community is very accepting but also lowkey toxic and I love it. I've had tons of great interactions and also some games that make me want to take a break, but I will always open it back up and play again. I wont go into the nitty-gritty as this is a review aimed at people who haven't played much or at all before. Also one more quick thing. This game is "cheap" you can get into it on sale for next to nothing, but if you want the full game, its more expensive than most AAA titles released today (I think, I'm not checking the math). But I say this because most (not all) of the good perks in the game are blocked behind characters that you have to pay for. There is also a lot of cosmetics, like, A LOT of cosmetics. They're great but more money that you have to pay given you don't want to grind a lot a lot of hours to earn them for free, same as most characters. There is also the new classic video game trope, a battlepass. But ill tell you, this is one of the better battlepasses as far as games I've played. The paid track will pay for itself, (you pay 1000 currency and it gives you 1000 currency throughout the pass) and you get a good amount of cosmetics but its a roll of the dice for if they're for a character you like or play. The best part of it though, is the time allotted, you have 3 months to complete 85 tiers and I will tell you, that is pretty easy. To the point where I would say it makes it feel like it runs a bit long but I know I also play the game a good amount more than average players... maybe.
