So I got this game when it came out and got really and I do mean REALLY disapointed in it. Mainly because I'm a Star Citizen player and I expected the gameplay features to be similar.
The main points I didn't like (and still do in some way) are these:
- Immersion is not easy compared to other games and I thought Bethesda would update their immersion features compared to other games (Ex: Waaaay to much fast travel are necessary, ship modules are kinda empty and useless outside of the armory and the cockpit, way too much useless gear items, could not find any motivation to build outposts even though I loved it in Fallout 4 and usually it's something that I love in every game)
- Travelling is kinda crap (I always skip it when I can) it's sooooo repetitive and there's no challenge or nearly enough enemy encounters plus you can't even really use the powerhouse of a ship you build since after a certain point you don't really fight space battles if you focus on the main missions (even the space fight against the hunter was wayyy to easy imo)
- Food system is literally optional as hell, actually the whole crafting system can be skipped without sacrificing anything outside of modded items. and keep in mind I looove crafting and the basics were there to make it great. going from planet to planet to get specific materials is just amazing (which brings me to the next point)
- Missed opportunities: It's kinda sad to see that there's nothing more to mining, crafting, vehicles, crew management and uniques (guns/armors) The basics are there and they're great but it feels limited, like it was in Fallout 4 or even Skyrim (to only reference Bethesda's precedent games) It would've been great to start with a ♥♥♥♥ dune buggy that doesn't even have a weapon and finish with a mad max level moon car that has guns and a ram in front of it, same goes for mining. I would've been great to upgrade what you need for some ressources and over time you would need to build mining outpost that are CRUCIAL and need employees and see an actual mine or pit instead of basic machines that are just placed randomly or even get a mining ship to mine some rare ores on asteroids and you would need to upgrade all of these to get more and better ores and materials. Autocrafters and merchant supply lines would've been great, like ytou start with your little outpost and when you have enough your main outpost recieves a constant flow of ressources from your other mining operations out there and then you have a factory that builds items that you sell to merchants on hub planets you could even need to be a space trucker for a while until you get to hire your own delivery guys and get passive income from your bases over time. anyway I could go on but you get the point.

Now I WOULD'VE said the game's bad but then I realized I wanted it to be something it's not. I wanted it to be basically a finished (smaller scal) Star Citizen, a role playing ecperience where I could be whatever I wanted.
The game is great if you take it for what it really is: Fallout/Skyrim in space and it does a fantastic job at being what it was meant to be by Bethesda.
I gave this game another chance recently, playing as a space Davos Seaworth and I loved the story, the dialogues the replayability of the Unity as a concept and the fights I had (weapons are waaay better than in other bethesda games and the jet pack is just plain dumb fun)
So if I had to simplify it I would say YES GET IT
