This game basically was my social life for a few years. It's a great combination of solid gameplay, a fun community, and very entertaining characters. I haven't kept up with it much over the past few years, but this game will always hold a special place in my heart.

If you're looking for a good story-driven game, get Eliza. This visual-novel-style game has great characters, and it asks some very interesting questions about mental health and technology. Step into the shoes of Evelyn as she recovers from tragedy and figures out who she really wants to be in a world that's pulling her in many different directions. I really connected with Evelyn in this game, and I couldn't help but play through every ending to see what could happen.

I understand that some of the mechanics in this game are annoying and offputting, and the graphics certainly haven't aged well, but man, did this game get a lot right in creating a unique and detailed world for you to adventure in. I'll never forget the cliff racers or the giant mushrooms or the floating god-man who named a city after himself. This game definitely requires some patience, and rose-tinted nostalgia glasses certainly help a lot, but if you can get invested, the payoff is enormous.

Still kind of my favorite game ever. I've played through to the second ending many times (on various systems), but I've still never gotten the best ending. I'm glad this game lets you pick the original graphics and music, so I can really experience that nostalgia.

This game manages to be worth playing while containing no fun whatsoever. My mood became significantly worse as a result of playing it, but it was also kind of beautiful. If you want some scary introspective stuff to chew on in your head for a while, play The Beginner's Guide. I'll be thinking about this game for a long time.

I like the concept of high-skill fights that can be really quick if you know what you're doing, but the time it takes between dying and starting the fight again is just too much. In a game where you die this quickly, it's a huge pain to spend 60 seconds walking back to the fight every single time.
