The story is absolutely brutal and bleak in the most powerful and emotional ways. It's centered around womanhood, and more specifically motherhood, and trying to survive as, essentially, a refugee in your own homeland occupied by an oppressive military force.

The gameplay is addictive, and I find myself just driving around in the world aimlessly because it's so fun, especially when you unlock some of the later abilities. The gore is very abundant, but in a way that mirrors the themes of the story and really puts a lot of weight behind every action.

Combat is incredibly unbalanced, and the game does a poor job of explaining its own mechanics

As someone who did speedruns of Sheepo, you can definitely tell that Kyle took everything he learned from that game and refined it into Islets. I'm only about halfway through so far and this is already one of my games of the year! Kyle, you did AMAZING.

A fun and surprisingly complex momentum-based metroidvania. Definitely worth your money and time

Combining twin-stick and RTS elements is intuitive and fun. The mission mode is exciting and difficult, but the multiplayer vs is where it's at.
