An already-intuitive no-frills fighting game experience evolves into a spectacular PC port. With the inclusion of rollback netcode functionality, lag caused from extremely poor Internet connections can be mitigated with the right setting. Code Mystics has really imbued new life into this game in a way other fighters on this platform are barely ever afforded. In addition, the overhaul to the UI has made navigating menus far more user-friendly and much easier on the eyes (compared to the previous developer's efforts with presentation).

...oh, and the actual game content is sublime. Unquestionably. For $10, I believe fighting game players, long-timers and novices alike, owe it to themselves to add this to their libraries and increase the chances of more classic fighters being given the rollback treatment.

Play this game. Play it H A R D.

I had always been a relatively casual fan of the DOOM franchise. Before this game, I had only played demos of the earlier Romero-era games on older MS-DOS PCs and enjoyed various media (the first movie, magazine articles, third-party review) related to the IP. It took playing this game to truly appreciate what I had been missing out. Presentation, gameplay, content, playability. This game has those in spades.

Pacing issues may be present with the somewhat rinse-and-repeat nature of the game flow (explore, find Gore Nest, activate Gore Nest, clear out enemies, continue on your merry way), but for what it's worth, fun could still be had despite this design choice. The silent protag narrative technique is a great way to immerse yourself into the experience and the story does its best to make you feel the severity of the situations at hand.

You'll more than get your money's worth out of this, especially at its current pricing.
