Early Access Review
Its a cute little sandbox that scratches the "map painting" itch pretty nicely. Honestly I would call it more of a "story generator" than a "game" exactly since a lot of what you do is fairly random due to the card system. I don't think this is a game a lot of people would be into, but if you're into grand strategy games and love to map paint, give it a try!

Team Fortress 2 is honestly still *the* class shooter. It speaks volumes that after 17 years - 8 of which without major content updates - the game still has a massive player count. Hell, even with the more recent bot invasion that made official servers basically unplayable, (actual) player counts were still healthy on community servers.

With the bots gone, the game is back to being fun and playable. The question still remains how long the bot detection works and if they'll come back, but it's lasted a while by this point.

I would genuinely recommend TF2 to just about anybody with any interest in first person shooters. There's so much to do, and its refreshing playing a game before microtransactions got out of control (not to say that they're not still here...)

This was not a great launch.
In terms of game play, I actually really like it. The gun play is good, the graphics are nice, the voice acting is exactly how I wanted it. The game itself is really good.
When the game first launched, it was unplayable. Literally, you could not (reliably) connect to the servers. Considering the game is always-online, this meant the game may as well have been dead weight in your hard drive for the first week of launch. Thankfully, server issues seem to have been fixed. However, the always-online requirement is still there. This definitely needs changed, and my understanding is that Starbreeze is looking into changing it.
Other than the always-online and the horrid launch, the game is quite fun. Some people have issues with the progression system being entirely challenge-based, however I personally don't mind. Ideally, Starbreeze can find a system that can appease everyone though.
I would love to recommend this game, however, until the always-online system is changed, and we get offline play, this review will stay negative. For those still interested however, happy heisting.

As much as this game is quite fun, it is clearer with every update that Rockstar only cares about milking as much money from players as possible. Content costing more and more money, methods of getting money being nerfed, and more recently nearly 200 vehicles being removed so they can hide them behind paywalls.

This game is probably my favorite shooter of all time.

The gunplay is amazing. Weapons can have multiple firing modes, multiple scopes, and are extremely customizable. The overall gameplay can be affected by skills and perks, and if you get bored you can easily switch to something else and the game will seem almost new again. Seriously, you have dodge skills, armor skills, stealth gameplay, and other memery. Pretty much every heist is enjoyable, I only have issues with certain ones.

The only issue I can really come up with on Payday 2 is the DLC. Yes, it is excessive, but thankfully most DLCs don't seem necessary. I would list those that are, but that list has probably changed since last time I've checked, and its been done to death either way. As much as I am against excessive DLC policies, it does seem to be a necessary evil in this circumstance. Overkill simply does not have the money to pursue other projects, and monetizing this game is the only thing keeping them afloat afaik. So, until Overkill can come out of the rut they're in, I will support them even if they do things I would usually despise.

Ok this might sound silly: but honestly Wizard101 is great.

It may be the nostalgia talking, but I really enjoy playing this game. The combat is fairly relaxing in a sense, theres the pet minigames to play, and the story that, from what I've seen and heard, is actually pretty good. The game overall is really fun and a good time.

BUT its not free-to-play. It says it is, but it is not. The game you get when you download it is effectively a demo. Its the same game- but you can't progress past like the first 20-30 minutes of gameplay (assuming you take it slow). From this point you can either pay approx. $80 a year, or a chunk of change each region you want to unlock. Mathematically speaking, just buy premium if you're going to actually "buy" the game. I've done the math and you'd have to play the game for I think like 5 years to make buying each region worth while, and at that point more regions will probably be added.

I love this game, but PLEASE make it more obvious that this is effectively a DEMO, not a standalone game!

PS. I play it on the Wizard101 launcher, not on Steam. So I have many more hours than the 0.9 it shows.

I've spent like... a lot of time in this game. If you like strategy games, this is one to pick up. Its systems may not be the most in-depth, its graphics may not be the prettiest, the AI might not be the best, but the game is a classic. As with any Civ game, you will spend hundreds of hours without even realizing it. The amount of civilizations to play, the starting conditions, maptypes, scenarios, victory types, and all of that will make sure that the game won't get old.

The game really shines in multiplayer. The amount of amazing and fun games that I've played with friends is astonishing, and this game is truly one that keeps on giving. Practically half of our in-jokes are from Civ 5 games we've played together. And ask anybody whose played Civ 5 and they can ramble for hours about tales from their past games.

If you're picking up Civ 5, get Brave New World and Gods & Kings. They complete the game, and make it truly worth playing. The other DLCs such as Civ or Scenario DLCs are really nice to have, but not really required. All in all, have fun with this gem!

Great game in general, though I have some serious qualms.

First off, while this game is free, it is NOT designed to be played as such. Gaijin's model is based off of subscriptions and packs. If you can't stand a game with a grind, then this is not for you. Some premium vehicles can be a bit OP, but balance changes happen frequently so its hard to say with certainty what is OP.

Speaking of balance, War Thunder can be very bad at this. The matchmaking system is pretty bad with this, and some vehicles even get removed for balance reasons. Other vehicles frankly have no place in the meta, some of which also get removed or only come out during special events.

Lastly, the amount of money that can be spent on this game. Premium vehicles can be fairly pricey, but its the rarer vehicles you get from the Gaijin marketplace that can be stupidly expensive. I'm talking about literal hundreds of dollars for what is effectively a reskin. Its frankly ridiculous how much some things are charged for in a free-to-play game. Its one thing to sell premium, its another to be able to buy a vehicle and have an advantage over those who payed nothing.

While my review seemed negative, I genuinely like the game. The problem is some of the systems behind it and the company. I could actually go very in-depth about Gaijin being scummy, but in that sense I am speaking with my wallet. This game will be fun as hecc regardless of the money you spend on it, but it can be easy to be annoyed at Gaijin for their practices. Don't play the naval mode though. You'll never get anywhere on it without premium.
