A miserable bugged-out mess of spaghetti code and toxic players held together with an addictive albeit repetitive gameplay loop. Probably the best asymmetric horror game out there (there's a reason why every game touted as "-the- DbD killer for real this time you guys" flops) but far, far from perfect. There should be an 18+ kink warning on the splash screen, because this is the biggest exercise in sadomasochism I've ever willingly undergone.

Dive into Dead by Daylight if you're into:

Roving packs of survivors that communicate though flashlight Morse code despite memeing it up in comms together.

One-for-one bug fixes. Every one fix breaks something else cuz this game was coded by the seat of the dev's pants.

"[insert game feature here] isn't working right now." as a weekly catchphrase.

Killer mains that treat matches like a therapy session and the survivors are their absentee father.

Hitboxes as a casual suggestion.

Other players wishing horrible diseases on your and your loved ones when you play the game as intended.

I play at least a handful of hours a week and I can't stand it. I don't regret it one bit.

Do I recommend this game?

If you're brand new? No. Go play some other asymmetrical whatever game. Lord knows they could use the numbers.
If you're jaded like me, masochistic, patient or very good at looping killers for all 5 gens, then hop on in. Just know that your love for slashers and the horror genre won't buffer you from the myriad of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game and its community has to offer. Have fun.
