As someone who played in the earliest years I can say this game still has a resemblance to the original game. I recall it taking at least a week of daily play to get my first Plat piece. It's still enjoyable but the overall "Feel" of the game is different. I'm thinking it comes down to the community. As it is structured, it's difficult to make new friendships or "Fellowships"... but then maybe it's me.

Great fun, cchaotic madness and hilarity ensues!

Very immersive. The survival aspect can be daunting, be prepared to recycle many times. PVE is only possible if you choose a server with a very low population but alliances are possible. I was surprised that there were not more KOS players although that is always changing. Really entertaining game overall. Still getting used to the game mechanics after 55+ hours. Worth it in my opinion.
