So far, the game has been visually stunning; the gameplay has been easy to pick up, with a good chunk of as-yet unexplored nuance (before even getting to the whole 'title' system); and the story has been entertaining, despite it still being in the early-ish stages of worldbuilding as of my review. +rep for having the healer not only be an extremely fun character to play as, but also for the fact that their DPS doesn't feel lacking to compensate for these heals.
My first Tales game, and a big recommend.

It's more Slime Rancher! Builds upon gameplay ideas from the previous game, and creates a fresh experience out of it. Monomi Park really took notes on what made their game so great, and provided in droves.

As someone who enjoys both the Yakuza series and JRPGs, this game was a blast the whole way through. The main character, Ichiban Kasuga, is an instantly likeable hothead with an unwavering loyalty to his loved ones, proving again and again that he will go the distance whenever he makes a promise. The side characters, whom you meet along the way, all have well-developed, fleshed out personalities that gracefully compliment the story the game tells to the player.

Where the game derives it's uniqueness from the previous Yakuza titles, and where it garners both my respect and ire, however, is the JRPG system. Aside from the dumb gender lock on every job, or the lack of information on which specific stats do what (full disclosure: I may have missed this), I would say that it succeeds very well on a conceptual level: gear upgrading, job diversity with some skills carrying over, action commands that reward attacks with a slight damage boost, perfect guarding by timing a block against enemy attacks, etc. The icing on the cake when it comes to the battle system is since Ichiban is a die-hard Dragon Quest fan, what you see while playing the game is how he imagines the fights going down in his head, funny costumes and all!

I don't want to give anything away about the story, as it is much better playing games like these blind, but it is worth mentioning that despite this game being the seventh Yakuza game, it is just as equally valid of an introduction to the series as Yakuza 0 is, though longtime Yakuza fans will definitely enjoy certain aspects of the game that may very well fly over the heads of newer players.
