The visibility of the enemies is poor compared to other roguelikes, there is just way too much visual noise within the game that I don't wish to play it. It's hard to read some attacks too that it makes me not wish to play the game. It's otherwise a good game, but there's better games.

The game has much better gunplay than payday 2, and that's its strongest point. Everything doesn't seem overly powered like in payday 2 and it's more grounded.

I prefer payday 2's stealth mechanics though. It is absurd to be able to be caught in a private guard an infinite amount of times in a private area when stealthing a mission, I even sometimes intentionally get caught so I can steal the guard's keycard when he looks away (have i ever seen a female guard or cop in this game??). The old ECM jammers also are more fun and balance out the difficulty, as payday 3 lets you complete some stealth heists without needing to ever mask up. You can lockpick and perform other illegal actions while unmasked, which could be used for some interesting things but makes things easier.

The biggest weakness is probably that objectives seem repetitive, wandering the map to find cell phones people left behind and standing in circles.

I would feel otherwise if there was a true competitor in this genre, but there isn't. It's really just payday 3 against payday 2. I wouldn't play a thousand hours in this game and it seems worth it on sale just to play the included heists or maybe some of the previous year's heists when they are heavily discounted. The game is arguably not better than payday 2 in any specific way, other than being on a newer game engine.

Payday 2 even has some features payday 3 still doesn't have like the ability to play offline. Why do I have to find a match when I'm just playing with one other friend in a private game?

The game seems to be on a solid foundation to eventually be fun, probably around 2027 as long as the game keeps on being updated and improved as it currently is.

sets a standard for puzzle games in terms of simplicity while maintaining depth that I have seen no other game achieve yet

The game is as wide as an ocean and as deep as a puddle. Night city is one of the most beautiful cities in gaming and it is cool to see all the modern rendering technologies in use to create an almost photorealistic world.

Even with the recent updates that improve this game, the world will never feel complete and NPCs don't feel like they belong to the world and just are objects for the player to swerve into more than anything else... it's arguable that the NPCs from GTA V, a game released in 2013, feel more realistic than this game.

I don't feel like my choices matter and the skill checks don't seem to actually affect the outcome like they would in a RPG, they just change the dialog a bit... the game is more an action game than a RPG.

The world still is very shallow and most buildings are just a shell, there isn't a whole lot to do in this open world just walking around. If you stick to the quests and driving around to look at the pretty city, it's a good game. The DLC content in dogtown is quite good too.

This game is unique in that it's almost a simulation of how a society functioned in the 15th century. You aren't the chosen one and have to deal with hauling bags of grain and other mundane tasks like forging horseshoes. None of these tasks are particularly interesting. Lots of conversations are similarly dull, as most conversations in this time would likely be.

The difficulty is fair. You stand no chance in a 1v3, some chance in a 1v2, and can still lose in a 1v1 against a well equipped enemy. The game is a bit easy compared to what would be realistic, but is far more difficult compared to most games. The limited save system always makes me hesitant to fight unneccesarily.

People react realistically and aren't stupid. If things go missing and they see you sneaking around, they will make the connection that you were the one to steal it. Compare this to Fallout New Vegas where the shopkeeper will watch you pick up an item, walk into the closet, close the door, them put the item into your inventory, and because they don't see you actually put the item into your inventory - they don't do anything about it. I've actually stayed away from a lot of crime since the saving system is unforgiving and there are legitimate ways to make money such as forging.

I would love to see other games simulate a society to this degree such as one set in ancient rome or greece. It is difficult to create games that transport people into a realistic historical setting, but there is obviously demand for it when done properly like in this game.

All the DLC gets downloaded to your computer so the game takes up too much space. Plus, you can't even race the DLC tracks even if they are a daily event - why is the DLC set up like this? At the very least give us a reason to download these DLC tracks automatically and let us try it out? Greedy developers. Also, in EA tradition, the DLC feels like it was removed content from the main game rather than additional content...

Plus why do you need to connect online to play singleplayer? ♥♥♥♥ EA.

good game though

too bad the game is like this, as otherwise it's a good game.

Pure path tracing is cool. Without denoisers and DLSS, we wouldn't be near ray time ray tracing even on $1,500 GPU's
