So I’m writing this only a few minutes after beating and near completing the game’s achievements in the very first run (minus the ending which I won’t spoil), and I have to say that I am proud of Rob and the entire team that worked on this game.

I was very fortunate enough to meet Rob when the game got first announced around PAX East 2024, and even more fortunate to get an interview with him and even have just normal conversation with him afterwards, as well as doing the same at this year’s PAX after the game got delayed the first time, right before the game got delayed again right around PAX ended šŸ˜…

But the extra two months was worth the wait after wanting this game to come out for 15 months since first playing the demo last year.

Of course there’s some day one bugs, I caught two very notable bugs that should be kept in mind, and it’s at the final boss fight where in stage two of the Riffson fight, when parts of the floors and walls start attacking you, there’s a chance where those enemies can’t be damaged at all, and the boss fight is essentially hard locked into a loss, which means having to take the L and start from the beginning of that fight. The second one is the chance of a screen doubling effect where in the final phase, if Rick goes for his super attack, there’s a chance that the screen doubles, and it can be very jarring, but the quick fix from that is using your own super attack. Also there was the background that never really phased out on the bottom of the screen, but that’s minor compared to those two, and that’s what I’ve experienced. Every player’s experience will be different.

And yes, it runs on Steam Deck, gets a thumbs up from me on that front.

Overall, this game was very fun to play from beginning to end, the OST is amazing, and it’s really cool to hear some of Rob’s original music like A Collapse or Le Gentil/Transit of Venus put into BGM, even the ringtone when his phone rings is his original music put into the game. There’s definitely some replay value in the game, as there’s so many different mods, riffs, and pedals that it can make everyone’s play style relatively different, and makes it more enjoyable to try out.

I definitely recommend this game, everyone involved in this game did great, and I think it’d be cool if there was a potential DLC, or second game after this.

Now I have to remember if it was Rob or Jeff that said ā€œFretless 2: Double Necked Adventuresā€ as a joke at PAX this year…

When E3 had its final memorable moment in 2019 with Keanu Reeves coming out to promote Cyberpunk and said ā€œYou’re breathtakingā€ that was the first time I had intrigue over the game, and decided to have the game in my radar for when it releases.

However we all know what ended up happening when the game released. It was an absolute mess, especially on the console end of things. Whatever hype or interest I had in the game completely went out the window when the outcry became so massive that it led to a lawsuit.

That was until Edgerunners came out and hype surrounding the game started to explode in 2022, and then the 2.0 update with Phantom Liberty releasing in 2023 started popping my interest in the game again, but I didn’t have good enough hardware to run the game.

Until I got a Steam Deck back in April this year, and I finally decided to buy the game last month.

Something I’ll have to mention for future Steam Deck owners, this game is best ran at 30 FPS. It’ll be a miracle if you somehow find a way to run it at 45 FPS consistently, which if you know a way, I’d like to know that way, but the game runs perfectly fine at 30 FPS. Photo mode has an odd quirk where it’ll essentially hard lock your game into the picture you took, and the only way to prevent that is if the game is in windowless border mode instead of full screen. And lastly, the game’ll crash from time to time. It happens given how intensive the game is, and you’ve got about a 2 hour battery life on a full charge with the game, so keep a battery pack with you or keep the cord handy on your bedside for the game.

But besides all of those quirks and issues, I played the entire story in my bed with my Steam Deck, and it was the only game I played for 10 days straight before I beat the game. I’m 25 years old, I’ve been gaming since I was 3, I haven’t had a game hook me in from beginning to end like that since I played Skyrim from beginning to end when it came bundled with my Xbox 360 back in 2013 and that was the only game I had besides a couple of CoD games and L4D2, and when Minecraft came out on the Xbox in 2014. The story of this game, is phenomenal, the gameplay with the different styles and mechanics you can go with, is awesome, the DLC is an amazing layer to add to the main story, the Easter eggs in the game are also cool, fun, and heartbreaking because I watched Edgerunners, in the 80 hours it took for me to get to the final mission (and getting two of the worst endings first before I got the Nomad ending with female Streetkid V) I didn’t feel bored at all, and I just kept wanting more and more out of the game the longer I played. If a second DLC came out, I’d buy it in a heartbeat, even if it was riddled with bugs, that’s how impressed and interested in the game I’ve gotten.

My expectations were really low for the game because of the overwhelming amount of bad press the game had at launch, and overall passing up the game as another AAA game that decided to release an unfinished game just to make as much money as possible, but this is far from the game that was heavily criticized and was borderline unplayable 4 1/2 years ago. It absolutely shattered every single one of my expectations, and it was only amplified because I played it on a handheld that could handle it, and haven’t been able to put down since I bought it.

In the 22 years I’ve been playing video games, there’s a very small list of games that I play relentlessly and have the upmost loyalty to because I view those games as absolute masterpieces and deserve the title of ā€œone of the greatest games ever createdā€, and those games have been Resident Evil 4, Skyrim, and Minecraft. I can honestly say that Cyberpunk 2077 is one of those games that I know I’m gonna play over and over to get different results with different versions of V, until I somehow find a way to do everything possible in the game, because i genuinely think that this game should be considered to be one of the greatest games ever made, and hats off to the devs and the publishers for moving heaven and earth to make this game go from a mess, to a masterpiece.

Worth every single penny.

CS:GO Review
It's easily the hardest FPS game I've ever played. I grew up playing CoD, Battlefield and Halo, and this game is on an entirely different level on how to play FPS games. I love the game, the skins are pretty fun, and it's definitely a good game to play if you ever wanna kill some time. Would highly recommend this game to anyone who love games with a really high skill ceiling.
