Cute little puzzle game. Puzzles are largely intuitive while still having baked in nudges/hints: on the easier side as far as puzzle games go. Only a little upset about the way the dev reads clocks (you'll know when you find it).

The puzzles are basic and the potion crafting is a gimmick and serves as a "triangle peg for triangle hole" style solution system rather than fueling creativity or ingenuity. The environment is cluttered yet still empty, impressed they pulled that feeling off. To top off my experience I had a bug that prevented an item from spawning(?) and was unable to complete the game. My only regret is that I cannot refund the game since I got it from a humble bundle.

As a sequel this game is maybe a 3/10. They removed the hub and upgrade system, you aren't leveling your party or improving their gear, you aren't exploring dungeons trying to minmax loot gains. They also dumbed down combat and have enemies more tools. More RNG too, and not in the taking risks for higher reward way DD1 has, in the "sit on this cactus and like it" way.

One great example of this is the plague doctor in DD1 has a grenade to stun the back 2 rows. That ability exists but it now instead blinds: a debuff to reduce accuracy of an attack by 50%. This is a reminder that casters and supports commonly inhabit those back rows and there's many a combat they won't use an attack ...

As a standalone game it's 6/10. Some replayability but if compared to other roguelikes like slay the spire, where the map feels copied from, or other deliberately accessible roguelites like Hades it falls flat and often feels like a larger investment than it's worth. There is a reason at the time of reviewing DD1 has 2700 current players and DD2 has 1000.
