It's good. Lots of different solitaire variants to play around with, it doesn't try to do anything fancy and there's no pay to win gimmicks. It's free!

I've not finished this yet (controller issues) but I have to say I really really like this.

Normally I'm not one for hard and precise platformers but this one hits that perfect sweet spot. Every room I do I feel like I'm routing a speedrun because more often than not going fast is easier than taking it slow. The game controls are really tight and smooth, it really feels super satisfying to clear a room or even a boss. I also love the retro style and soundtrack.

For me the only thing missing are statistics. There's no way to know how many times you've died for example, something I have been very curious about since I started this game (you will end up dying A LOT in this game)

Anyway, great game! I really recommend it if you like challenging 2D platformers, or just difficult/challenging games in general.

There's a lot of complaints about this game, some which are justified and some that are not, but ultimately it's just Plants vs Zombies in a fresher look with a few new features. Let's talk about it.

So first of all I want to say I am not thrilled about the AI upscaling, but let's face it: It's not as bad as people make it out to be. There are a few graphical bugs here and there, but the plants look nearly identical and anyone who says they notice something off is lying to you.
So let me give you a list of pros and cons

PROS:

- New modes. There are a few new modes, like Cloudy Day which gives you a new way to play the game. There are also 10 new bonus levels though they are mostly easy and doesn't give you any sense of completion once you beat them. There's also a few I haven't tried personally like RIP mode which I hear is basically New Game+.
- Local Co-Op and Versus. So now you can play with a friend. It's only locally, though there are ways to circumvent this so you can play together even when you're not in the same place, like Steam Remote Play. Haven't tried this but I imagine it's a good time.
- Change Speed Button. I can not emphasize just how much of a good addition this is. One of the only complaints I had about the original PvZ was how excruciatingly slow it was at times. That's fine when you are just getting used to the game, but it made it hard to return to the game for experienced players like me. The speed-up button is extremely useful, especially when you are money grinding, as you can change speed to 1.5x, 2x and even 2.5x! This feature alone makes the game an upgrade, but of course one little feature wouldn't justify the price of the game.

CONS:

- Artificial Intelligence upscaling. It's undeniably the one big talking point. I am not a big fan of AI used in video games or art in general, and anything used that replaces the human touch is a negative to me especially when the original team offered to return to work on the game. However, it is also the ONLY AI thing in the game to my knowledge. My issue with AI stems in the potential environmental damage it can cause in the long-term and when it's used to plagiarize and make new style for intellectual property. This game does not use new art, it uses the original style plants and zombies we know and love. Upscaling isn't nearly as bad as generative AI which is broadly more available to the public (hence why it's a much worse thing).
- Customizables for plants and zombies. While there's nothing inherently wrong with this it's just such a low-effort thing that doesn't seem worth using. There are like 3 options for visuals (retro style and zombies with mustaches) and one alternative sound option which is just bad. If they had added more variety I might've not put it here, but as it is it's not much.
- The price. While prices for games have gone up dramatically the last 5 years because of inflation (still doesn't justify half-assing a game, looking at you EA and Ubisoft) this is still a fair bit of money to use on what's essentially just PvZ with a few new features. Personally I don't think 20 dollars (250 norwegian kroner) is outlandish, there are other remasters out there that are way more, I understand the POV of those who think it is too much but if you liked the original then I can see you playing through this game which takes a few hours at least at minimum.

There's also concept art in this game and I need to address a misconception: It's not art from just the original PvZ, it's art from ALL the PvZ games (at least most of them) to show the development and progression of the series. This could've been clarified better by EA/Popcap though.

Would I recommend the game? Yeah. After a few patches the game is fine. If you don't care for the new content or the different speeds button then just go play GOTY, it's 1/4 the price.

Don't know how some people do this in 3 hours or less, but 8 hours to finish the game 100% with all achievements is not so bad. Sometimes I like a longer clicker game, but I like these shorter ones too which tell a little bit of a story. It's not groundbreaking or anything, but it is a nice game to pass the time.

All I need to say is go read what others have already said under reviews. The game has some interesting new stuff, but on a whole it's a huge step back, especially the UI is absolutely horrendous. A common opinion is that if you're gonna put in hundreds of hours into the game you could buy it, but take into account that most also do not enjoy the navigating of the UI and lots of missing features. My recommendation is to skip this year entirely and see if the next installment is any better.

This is hugely disappointing, and just screams that they weren't ready.

The menus have changed and it's made navigating a bit more tedious but it works exactly like it used to in previous installments. It didn't take me too long to find everything but it will take a little time to get used to, but that's life.

Information for people: The in-game editor has ALWAYS cost money. It's marginally more expensive than the FM24 in-game editor. Whether you want to spend the money or not is up to you.

The product is fine for what it is, I've not had any problems with it.

Short but relaxing and satisfying. All you do is clean up leaves but there is an upgrade system and some hidden items. Ended up doing this in one sitting but it's a good looking game which is fun once you start upgrading your tools.

Another fun clicker production game. This one is a bit more intricate than what I have been playing recently but ended up being shorter than I thought it be. Still, almost 40 hours on this when apparently you can do it faster than that. Must be some perfect strategies I'm not aware of, but I like this game functionally and visually.

I got a little over 5 hours out of the game to complete it 100% with all achievements. I appreciate that people can continue to play it after that with endless mode, but once I've gotten all the achievements for a game I'm done.

It's a short clicker + upgrades game which is a genre that I've become fond of the last few years, so this was definitely a game for me, and for a very good price too. For 5 dollars I would say if you get 5 hours out of it it's worth it. If you don't like casual clicker games then it may not be for you, but I know a lot of people will appreciate the time and effort that was spent on this.

It's fun for what it is!
