The closest platform fighter in quality and feel to the Smash Bros. series. with a few additional mechanics and faster gameplay, more similar to Melee, Rivals 2 gets very competitive and hard to master.

Gameplay is amazing, movement is fluid, and every fighter feels unique, but people who have never played platform fighters may be pushed away, as the game is lacking in solo content and tutorial modes to train yourself before going online. Smash Ultimate had a 30-hour World of Light campaign that was mostly just a big pack of various challenge matches. It wouldn't be too hard to develop some single-player challenge matches like those. Replaying Arcade Mode isn't fun enough. (The Story Mode Chapter 1 is coming probably in 2026.)

For now, it offers only Arcade Mode, Versus, and online Ranked 1v1 and Casual 1v1/2v2/Free for All. It's kind of hard to find people for those 4-player casual matches.

The netcode works great. Feels almost lagless compared to the always-laggy Smash Ultimate.

I would like to see Ranked 2v2, separated ranks for every fighter, and more solo modes.
