Cave Story in my opinion is an awsome 2D platform metroidvania with excellent music arrangement, a sweet story and great gameplay. For a game made by a single person, the level design and enemy placement feels on par with modern games and the weapon system is one of the most refreshing mechanics that are not present in other games in the genre. Having replayability with a difficulty option and having some guns locked of due to choices in the game make each playthrough different.

Some problems in the game would be the lack of direction in how to go for the true ending as well as the difficulty spike when going for the true ending for this game. Even on easy difficulty, the final stretch becomes HARD.

I would recommend this game for anyone who is looking for a short adventure with great combat and story.

Ever wanted to create and play anything you want? I have played the heck out of this game because of the madness and craziness you can have, play with people to to up the factors with new content created everyday. I will still play this game for years as the replay value never runs out. 8.5/10
