As a long time Ace Combat fan from Ace Combat 4 and onwards, I definitely recommend this title. The game is definitely different from Assault Horizon, the other Ace Combat title on PC, and it should be. Assault Horizon was a "good" game, but the mechanics introduced were forced and dumbed down what Ace Combat is supposed to be. I'll say this now, performance is very good for this game, and the graphics can be turned up to the max with my aging hardware, mainly my CPU (AMD FX-8350). There may be spoilers regarding some parts of previous titles in the Ace Combat Series.

The "Dogfight Mode" is virtually gone and the aircraft movements are much more realistic when engaging in combat. The only remnant that DFM was a thing is post-stall maneuvers, which I might add, is very difficult to use in any situation. The less said about the DFM from Assault Horizon, the better.

The game play feels very similar to Ace Combat 6 the most with regards to the high-g turns, but also to previous titles such as Ace Combat 4, 5 and Zero. However, this kind of game play is only achievable to those using Expert controls, where the Novice controls are the default option. Controls are very similar to previous titles on PS4 and Xbox One controllers, which is highly recommended to play this game in my opinion. Flight Stick support is there, but I have never played an Ace Combat title with one, and I would like to try it. But it is clear that some are upset that it is currently limited to about 4 flight sticks at the moment, which is disappointing to those who prefer a flight stick rather than a controller.

Ace Combat 7's story is there, and I expected much more to be honest. It is more similar to Ace Combat 6 and Ace Combat 4's way of story telling. The cutscenes are beautifully rendered and tie in with the game nicely, with additional story included in the missions and briefings. Soundtracks match the style of Ace Combat 7, however, I don't feel that they will be as remembered as other soundtracks, but that will be up to the player to decide since it may be due to my nostalgic feelings when playing this game.

As for multiplayer, I haven't tried it too much due to the recent postings on Reddit about hackers with infinite QAAMs and Missles. It isn't to say I tried it though. It is very similar to Ace Combat 6, where it is a Team Deathmatch or a Free-For-All against other people. To call the FFA mode, "Battle Royale" is incorrect though, since that can be mixed up with other games that use that term. Multiplayer has potential in my opinion, seeing Project Ace's attempt with Ace Combat Infinity on PS3. A Co-op mode would be appreciated along with an Anti-Cheat system to prevent infinite missles and health, not to mention Ace Combat Infinity's limited time events with limited time rewards.

Overall, I recommend this to anyone, especially those who have enjoyed the previous Ace Combat titles, including Assault Horizon. This is a different type of game compared to recent releases with Battle Royale gamemodes and a lack of a story. Ace Combat 7 provides a game with good soundtrack, an enjoyable gameplay, and a multiplayer with much potential waiting to be added.
