Added new cosmetic items in the latest update....which you can't get without paying for them. Not directly, of course. Because you need a microtransaction currency named "clonebux". I figured this was something that AAA game companies would do, not indie studios. Disappointing.

Newer weapon and outfit bundles use points instead of just being normal Steam DLC. And of course, you can never buy the exact amount of points you need, you always have some left over. Additionally, some items are time-limited like the "Let It Snow Weapon Pack" and "Mischievous Helper Bundle" at the time of this review. A definite step down compared to how the first game did DLC.

The recent Epic Online Services update added crossplay for Epic players at the expense of Steam players. The game won't even function without being connected to Epic. So if they're having server issues from some big Fortnite update, it's going to affect this game too. Where previously it didn't.

The devs have stayed silent regarding the PD2 community's discontentment regarding this recent change, so I'll be happy to give them this review. Don't buy any further Payday games/DLC, remove them from your wishlist and following list, and tell your friends to do the same. It's the only way they'll learn.

Edit: They recently posted a community announcement update with no mention of removing EOS in the game, so my review stands.

With the Expanded & Enhanced content still not on PC, and now with this latest update removing 186 vehicles to purchase from the in-game website stores to introduce even more artificial scarcity, Rockstar really doesn't want you to spend your time or money on this game. Look elsewhere for open-world mayhem.

Edit: Apparently people with a paid monthly GTA+ membership (also not on PC) get exclusive quality of life features too. Rockstar/Take 2 is a perfect example of what's wrong with modern AAA game studios/publishers.

Freezes with Steam Overlay, freezes when my co-op partner just walked into Friendly Fire. And the only way to get out of it without restarting the computer is to Ctrl+Alt+Delete, move Task Manager to a virtual desktop the game isn't running on, and force close it that way. The PS3 version didn't have this problem at all.

EDIT- Well this says it all here, unless that changes this game isn't ever being fixed. I'd rather they used those "resources" to fix bugs and other issues instead of adding mod support. That's like adding a spoiler to a car instead of fixing faulty brakes on it. I fully expect the game to get more broken over time too: https://steamcommunity.com/app/206420/discussions/0/1642044369658244373/#c1642044369658373381

It's a shame too, I've beat the PS3 version just fine without issues. I guess PC players are an afterthought for this company.

-Threw a ton of objects into the hallway
-Picked up the largest painting I could find
-Crouched down and held the right mouse button down while spinning the mouse in circles as fast as I could
-Went down the hallway and made objects go flying away from me
-Got to the corner of the room and tried to make a picture frame go flying but the game crashed

10/10, would make painting tornadoes crash the game again.

Covered myself in bronze paint, went to a dock area to fight waves of enemies, and eventually killed so many I let them kill me. 10/10 would kill myself from boredom again.

DLC? Yep. Lootboxes? Yep. Fortnite-like Battlepass? Yep. It's not just double dipping, but triple dipping at this point. EA would be proud.

"but it's just cosmetics"

I shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to get a new car or tires or whatever. If you want to sell me that, sell it to me directly.

"But they give out free stuff."

Sure, but don't be surprised if the more appealing items will not only be paid, but a hassle to get.

I bought the GOTY version of this game and additional DLC since I don't mind supporting indie devs, I could look past the lootboxes since you could turn off seeing them. But now with the new Rocket Pass as well being added it makes me regret buying this game.

Can't play co-op with just a buddy in a private lobby, and username changes cost real money. Uninstalled.

Before level 15, this game had just the right amount of difficulty against who you fight. The starter area has everyone with normal weapons for their factions, and you get a good sense of what the game is about. But afterwards? You're dumped out of the area and forced to fight against people who play this game like addicts. In addition, enemy team text chat cannot be disabled (as far as I'm aware of), so you get to see all the "useful" commentary they have to say as well. (you can't even send messages to team-only until you're a higher rank. So much for calling for backup.) The gameplay itself is only attacking or defending an objective, which gets dull after a while.

This game would be worth another look if the new player experience was overhauled, and a skill-based matchmaking system were added. Along with a possible PVE mode. Until then, unless you like being cannon fodder for people who view this pay to win game as something to worship, then you'd be better off with a different game.
