Shockingly competent bullet hell/ twin stick shooter. The different playable mechs are meaningfully distinct, enemies are easily readable and also interesting design wise. If I have anything negative to say, it's that it's a little too easy, but your mileage may vary.

Does what it says it will, and very well at that. If you think you will like it, it's absolutely worth the shot.

Cultic was already one of my favorite boom shoots. I've played dusk, amid evil and its dlc, blood, doom 2016, doom eternal, doom the new one, prodeus, selaco, and some others i don't remember. I know a thing or two about these retro shooters.

Cultic chapter 2 is at least as good as episode 1, and I think it's better than the first episode of cultic, and it is probably my favorite fps game at the moment.

I'll start with what I like about it. The levels are all great, they are obviously thoughtfully designed. I noticed that by the time I was getting tired of something it was just about to change. There's plenty of variety of environments, tone, and big set pieces. The train level is great, I loved the swamp, genuinely very little to complain about.

The music is nice, some levels are more memorable than others. The Swamp has amazing music, the bunker is great too, and most levels are pretty good. I do not recall feeling tired of the tracks for any levels while I played. Even the manor.

The new enemies are different enough that the have a reason to exist. The cops are meaningfully distinct from the cultists. They are both a great time to engage with. Part of that is the new guns. It is occasionally a little clunky to swap between the two flavors shotgun, but there is an option you can toggle to make it easier. I feel like the weapon choices are preference more than anything, and that is a good thing. The options are better in different situations, and it's nice that I can pick what I liked better than not worry that I'm gimping myself or wasting weapon upgrades.

The game is not perfect of course, nothing is. The riot cops might be a little too tough, but they die to fire like everything else does. Sometimes the fast zombies will kinda just phase through you, but I'm not sure that I've died from that, just been slightly annoyed. There are a couple levels that were a bit too confusing. Namely The Manor and The Fairground. I got lost looking for a key I missed in an area I thought I had looted in the manor, and the Fairground level does not have enough visual distinction between the different areas.

I have read other reviews complaining about backtracking, ammo economy, and padding. Frankly I do not see it. If you are wasting ammo you will run out faster, the game rewards you for aiming well and using the right tool for the job. I seriously had a hard time getting rid of pistol ammo faster than I picked up more. Backtracking was an issue in the two levels I talked about already, but like, video games have backtracking. There was back tracking in episode 1. There is back tracking in Dusk. You will survive walking a few minutes to the next room of cultists. I enjoy seeing the carnage I leave behind on the way back personally. Padding is not a real complaint, it's a buzzword people use when gratification is anything besides instant. The levels being built like places that could feasibly exist adds so much to the atmosphere of the game, look around and enjoy it.

Some closing thoughts. I love cultic, I had so much fun playing through the levels the first time. I played on hard, but I cannot describe how excited I am to go back and beat it on extreme in a few days. Cultic is worth your time, you deserve good games. 9/10

Get to the first real boss (i can't believe it's not the red wolf of radagon), halfway through I get disconnected. Lets me join back. Puts me back in dead. I can either sit and watch the team lose, or quit. Skill issue on my part for not calling from software and asking them to try harder I'm sure.

Edit, fought the last nightboss a few times, really disappointing that it's just some guy with too many giant explosions and screen nonsense who runs away the entire fight, basically the exact same as half of the other nightbosses. Fromsoft washed. Game is sad and weird. Still no duos. Almost all loot is trash. Literally just play the elden ring randomizer mod and save 40 dollars. Eventually you can pay even more for things that should have been in the game at launch. This game is perfect for all the capital g Gamers who whine about how games suck now but buy them anyway.

The worst part is that the game is so close to being something worth bothering with, it's just so lame and stupid most of the time that I can't say I actually like it. Genuinely just sad.

13 years in the oven, and it's still a buggy mess with barely optimized mouse and keyboard controls. I cant wait for gta 6 to come out and feel the same.

Digital storefront disguised as military sim. Op tanks you are not allowed to use because you didn't give winton churchhill a rusty trombone in 2013. Community circle jerks about dominating the new player lobbies. Can be entertaining once you get through the abysmal on boarding experience they've only had 11 years to iron out. Just expect to grind for ages unless you want to support the developers. From everything i have seen, don't expect problems with design or maps to be fixed at any point in the future.

Hopefully the Germaniacs don't see this, I don't think I can stand to see another one say how Hitler could have won.

you start out with the most basic useless crap, this is so you don't learn how to look for ghosts the right way. Bringing anything you start with makes it harder fo your team if you play with other people, so that way you don't have to learn how to use or understand the games ui. This all a very good design decision I'm sure. It's the same game from 4 years but they took all your xp away and added anti cheat to a strictly pve game. what a steal.
