I’ve been a long-time fan of the original Gothic series, and this remake has many of the elements I’ve always hoped for. The graphics are absolutely stunning—exactly as I imagined a Gothic remake should look. The dark, moody atmosphere is perfectly complemented by a unique Ruhrpott humor that gives the game character and a distinct personality. The difficulty curve is spot on: challenging and even a bit clunky at the start, which really evokes the authentic feel of the classic Gothic experience. The music is flawless, instantly making me feel right at home, and the familiar systems and gameplay mechanics bring a healthy dose of nostalgia.

However, there are some clear areas that need improvement:

No Quicksave/Load: This omission can be frustrating during those tense moments.
Chest Loot Bug: After selecting “take all,” the loot menu won’t exit automatically—you have to close it manually every time.
Clunky Animations: The combat animations still feel a bit rough around the edges.
Lack of Ground Item Names: Items on the ground aren’t labeled until you pick them up, which feels like a missed opportunity for clarity.
Contrast & Exposure Issues: There are sporadic visual inconsistencies—caves can be too dark, while open slopes might be overly bright. Even after tweaking gamma, contrast, and brightness, the settings never seem to hit the sweet spot.

Overall, the game is definitely moving in the right direction, but it needs further optimization to fully shine. If you love the original Gothic series and can handle a few rough patches for the sake of high risk, high reward gameplay, this is a must-watch project in development.
