honestly this game hurts my soul

it's not as fun with only one impostor, because two impostors + no confirming whether a dead person is impostor or not gives a ton of beautiful interactions that make the game extremely dynamic. highly recommend playing with a group call (muted during shhhh ofc), or with a minimum of 8.

I do like the customizability. allows for less people to play together. i literally just picked this game up and played for 6 hours, so honestly I'm going to stop now and crash. 8/10, ruined my life, would never play without friends, but it's very fun with friends or people you can yell at during discussions.

crossplay is great but like mobile is unplayable

please remember to eat and take breaks and don't play for 6 hours straight, no matter how good it seems in the moment

i'm going to have nightmares of the electrical room in my sleep tonight, good night

Okay. This game is a walking sim, and a critique of the philosophy of gaming, and it's important to the consumers of the gaming industry, and the vast majority will never, and should never, play it.

It's pretty short, especially since the price tag is relatively high. I played it back when the hype was everywhere, and I ended up finishing it, exploring everything, in 3 hours. Further fun within the game will need to be created by the player, not the actual base game. The only thing I hadn't done were the achievements that are just...

If you are an achievement hunter, consider skipping this game, even if it is on sale. The game requires "playing" the game for 24 hours straight, and editing your computer time at least twice to complete them in a reasonable amount of time. Even if you want to be authentic to the experience that these achievements are meant to simulate (Are you really willing to go so far for this game to play it after not touching it for 5 years, just because steam says there's an achievement for it? Are you willing to start the game just before midnight on a Monday and leave the game running for an entire Tuesday, just because steam says there's an achievement for it?), the final achievement is a slap in the face. Unachievable is, as the name suggests, unachievable. Anyone who has the achievement has edited their game code in order to achieve it. Even if you are willing to do anything for these achievements to achieve them legally, you can't.

The Stanley Parable is worthy of discussion. The theme (singular, as I can really only identify one) is semi-complex, and discovering the twists for yourself can entertain you for a few hours. However, you can also learn these things from an analysis video or article of the game, rather than spending $15 on a 3 hour (unless you count the artificial inflation of playtime that is the 24 hour achievement) experience. I don't begrudge this game's existence, but, subjectively, it's not worth it. I've bought overpriced, underwhelming, and painfully short games before. I wrote this review to explain why the design of the game gave me so many negative emotions. This game is commenting on how our suspension of disbelief can go to outrageous lengths within video games. I don't know if this story could have been told to the same effect in any other medium. I just know that I don't appreciate the attack against one of the few reliable sources of dopamine I've got left.

It's an important game that you (probably) shouldn't play.

Beautiful and touching. Takes around 10 to 15 hours to complete the game and all the achievements available, but this is such a beautiful tale I don't mind the price to time ratio. Replay value diminishes after playing through the two possible endings, as the level design is clever but there are only so many levels to hide secrets and ghosts. Would recommend highly to those who appreciate the Shelter art style or game series.
