First off, I'd like to address a common complaint I saw in reviews before I started playing: "The game is too short"

Maybe I'm just really slow, but I'm about 8 hours into the game as of writing and it seems I'm just past the halfway point.
If you're a slower player like me and you're really taking your time and soaking in the atmosphere, this game and all of it's charm will last and keep you engaged.

Next, I want to comment on the stylistic masterpiece of this game. Everything from the environmental design, graphics, CAT, music, and sound design are fantastic and really sell the immersion here. I turned off subtitles and highlighted items so that everything would be as realistic and immersive as possible and after playing through a significant amount of the game I'd recommend you do the same. The notes left in the environment are more than enough to get you through the game as long as you're taking your time and paying attention.

Lastly, I'd like to address the Alien: Isolation comparison that's pretty common in reviews.
I have played A:I but never completed the game for two main reasons: it's length, which feels as though it overstays it's welcome IMO, and it's often obtuse puzzles and aggravation of dealing with the Xenomorph.
So far, ROUTINE seems to avoid these issues I have with A:I and keeps things fresh by naturally cycling between areas with active threats you need to avoid and neutral areas that are safe but continue to build the tension and dread via atmosphere and lore.

Finally, I'll comment on the difficulty for those who might be concerned about that.
I personally am not ashamed of using guides at all and regularly do so for certain games because I have a full-time job so I'm willing to put on some training wheels to progress if the game is getting too difficult.
So far ROUTINE is not one of those games. It's just challenging enough to keep you busy in the area your objective is located and keep you exploring the mechanics of the game, but not so difficult that the overall experience is hindered and you waste your precious time running in circles trying to figure out what to do next. So far, there was only one area I've had to get help with (the mall) and that was only because I couldn't figure how to properly enter a keycode. Like I said above, the notes left around the station are more than sufficient to solve the puzzles if you take the time to read them, keep track of your objectives, and pay attention to everything in the environment.

Overall I'd say this game is fantastic so far and well worth the asking price. I'd love to see more fresh and experimental games and if you do too you should pick up ROUTINE.
