I'd recommend this game to anyone who wants a relaxing experience where they can explore planets and moons, find alien species, and sink time into upgrading a ship into something that grows alongside the player. The combat isn't exactly the best, but it feels nice and has some room for player choices to matter. However, this game is not difficult. I've played on one save file for close to seventy hours now and haven't had a single time where my shield bar went all the way down, much less where my HP started taking damage. But to me, that's not a bad thing. The threat of death is present, but with proper preparations, isn't something the average player will need to worry about. The story was a fun experience to go through, and I was genuinely attached to some of the characters, which isn't something that a lot of games have done in my experience. Overall, they've done a great job recovering from the lackluster launch, and if you have some friends to go explore around with in space, I would totally recommend this game.

The original Risk of Rain was one of my favorite games, and this game is carrying that legacy with its head held high. Surprisingly few and minor bugs for an early access game, pretty much have to force the game to break to get anything more than some frame drops. I'd recommend this game to anyone who enjoys dungeon looting games or games of the same type.

Honestly, this is one of my favorite games of all time. I cannot tell you the amount of fun I've had playing it over the years, and if you like the space sandbox genre, this is a sure-fire win.
