I played this game 6 years ago, got recommended a video essay and I'm crying with the same sense of dread I felt back then. God I love this game, play it.

Come for the banger music, stay to slam your head against your desk while the WoL is treated as a side character to her Majesty the sheltered cat lady that is apparently godlike.

Wuk's cultural understanding is making a pizza with an Italian man and going "Wow! Your culture is so vast and amazing!"

I'd rather play ARR. It's boring, but at least it's well constructed.

Boy this game is...genuinely uncomfortable to play. Ashley is toxic as ♥♥♥♥ and no one in this story is a good person. You're stuck making terrible decisions over and over again. Play it if you want to feel things and stuff. Looking forward (?) to more chapters.

5 dollars for an amazing little bullet heaven game that riffs on the genre pioneered by VS? Yeah, do yourself a favor and get it baby. <3

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rad. Definitely content limited, but the content here is just so cool. The devs looked at Vampire Survivor, then looked at the skill system from Path of Exile of all things, and mushed them together. This leads to the most fun tenant of roguelikes: Breaking the game wide open. Want to summon some little guys that on death, explode into fire projectiles that explode as they travel through the air? Yes. Leave a poison pool on the ground that smacks people with a club that on hit fires more projectiles? Do it.

Unfortunately some of the translations were clearly done by Google, but there are guides that help to better explain things and plus the game is 3 dollars for many hours of content currently. Just spend the 3 dollars. Do it.

Well this was completely unexpected.

The ADOFAI team went "What if our game and warioware had a baby?" It's weird, wild, and fantastic. If you love ADOFAI, you'll love this.

Is the gameplay fun? Yes, it's a genuinely great halo experience...If you can get past a few major caveats.
Is the reward system good? Some good, most bad.

So gameplay...It's halo, polished and feeling good. Power weapons and armor powers now have callouts and pop up on the map which feels great as you don't feel punished for not knowing the maps like the back of your hand, maps which by the way genuinely feel good. The gamemodes feel great, guns feel great, but there's a big but in the room. The biggest negative with the experience right now is that you can't pick the gamemode you want to play. What's that? Want to play slayer? How about we throw you in 17 capture the flag games. Need a particular challenge completed? Well you're going to have to cycle games until you get what you're looking for. Speaking of challenges...

The rewards....this game has a battle pass, which has some really good rewards included and it has a mission system for challenges to complete which would be great...if you got any exp for completing a match. This basically makes matches useless unless you have something to complete. Is the gun you need to get a kill with not on this map? Did you queue into the wrong game type? Well you'd better just dodge and re-queue because that match isn't going to be rewarding at all. Not to mention armor customization is way jankier than past entries. No emblem customization, no selecting the colors for your armor, it's all pre-determined. As someone who looks forward to pretty princess dress up more than gameplay, these things together make it hard to be excited about running rounds. This isn't 2007 anymore, rewarding a player for the time they invest into the game is a staple and it genuinely feels like that just isn't in the game.

So overall would I recommend it? I mean it's free, it's hard to beat a free multiplayer experience of this caliber. If you care at all about being rewarded for your time invested however, you're going to find that finishing a match leaves a bad taste in your mouth again and again.

EDIT: Well they made a fix to the reward system, and honestly it's nice to see that they're listening to the community. It's still not great, 50 exp per game completed still doesn't feel the best, but it's something.
