I dig this game.

Ramps up slow, but once you're in the latter half of the game, the movement and gunplay really shine. Not entirely sold on the upgrade system (Skill/Topaz/Jade Tree), as it feels a bit grindy at times. Once you get there, your major upgrades are game changers, and swinging around levels at high speeds while raining down carnage upon hordes of monsters is a blast.

All in all, it's definitely worth a look.

The devs have taken what I loved about the first game and cranked it up to 11. Really solid synergies, the new Room and Equipment cards add another layer of depth to this game, and the different faction and pyre combinations will keep you coming back for more.

Still holds up, even years later. Very solid, intricate mechanics and huge region maps will keep you playing for hours. Add in the Network Addon Mod, and hours turn into days as you strive to not only design your dream city, but also ensure that most (if not all) aspects of it remain functional and, perhaps most importantly, profitable. Every mistake teaches you a lesson on what to do (and what not to do), and there is much to learn.

I could go on for hours, but I'm not going to waste your time with a lengthy review. SimCity 4 is relaxing and rewarding, and well worth your time and money.

Thanks for reading.

I didn't like this when I first played it, but it grew on me when I tried a different build and weapons. Also, gitting gud helped a lot.

Scholar has added a lot of enemies, and it does tend to turn into a game of holding the chokepoint sometimes, but other than those situations, it's pretty decent. Seemingly huge build and weapon variety. It feels different than 1 and 3, but it is by no means inferior (depending on who you ask).

Geography is a bit whacky, but there are some solid zones in this game, and a few not-so-good ones. This game lives up to the name "Dark Souls" in its own way, with a lot of ball crushingly difficult situations, deadly traps, and perilous zones. Many of the bosses feel easy in comparison to what you go through to reach them.

This also goes on sale often, so the next time you see it, I'd recommend giving it a try.

Very faithful to the original, which is both a plus and a minus. The remastered maps are great, and the low poly aesthetic complements the fluid animation of the characters, enemies, and aspects of the environment. The maps themselves are on the smaller side, as they are as close to a 1:1 port of the SNES version's maps as possible. I wouldn't have minded them mixing things up there, but I understand why it was done.

Remastered soundtrack is pretty rad! The English VAs are uh...hit or miss. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_V84GVoaMRM.

The core combat is pretty fun starting out, but quickly devolves into button mashing (with the occasional charge attack to break shields). The game is entirely too easy, even on the hardest difficulty. The most difficult thing you will do in this game is to get your AI allies to stop dying, which they do often by standing in enemy AoEs during boss fights. Oh, and I guess there are two boss fights early on that are a pretty decent difficulty spike, but other than that, you can pretty much mash your way through everything else as long as you avoid the AoEs, which tends to be as simple as not standing in the big red marker. Later on in the game, you become a god, and very little can stop you.

The story is pretty whacky, but it's to be expected from a game that came out in 1995, when standards for a story in a video game were pretty lax. The new content adds a couple of hours of gameplay and a little bit of extra story, which is nice, but ultimately, you spend much of the time swatting away a horde of hapless monsters standing between you and the bonus boss. It's nothing to write home about.

All in all, decent remake, 7/10 in my book. Buy it when it goes on sale if you don't mind the inclusion of the dreaded Denuvo.

Thanks for reading :)
