I don't know how to put it, but it doesn't feel like monster hunter. I was a huge fan of Worlds, and I wanted nothing more than another monster hunter game with similar or better graphics and some new toys to play with. What I didn't want was monsters that didn't let me play with my toys because they just died to fast. Story pacing and writing is weird, gear progression is frustratingly fast, and decorations are just frustrating in general with the separation of weapon and armor decorations.

I haven't even gotten into game performance yet. I have a high end rig. The game takes up less than half of my 24gb of VRAM on high, and yet I still get horrendous stutters, pop in, frame drops, and lighting issues. I put in over 3000 hours into Worlds across consoles and PC. I've 100% the game on two platforms, and I can't bring myself to get back into this game. Guiding lands in Worlds felt more like an open world than this game ever accomplished with its swathes of empty nothing for me to run or ride through to get to the designated areas where the monsters land when running. I'm probably going to just wait until the end of the game's lifecycle when the issues are hopefully fixed before hopping back in.

Honestly, anybody who recommends this game is doing a disservice to the person they're recommending the game to.

Is more of Souls-like genre. Is best of the Souls-like genre. Not much you can ask for.
