The storyline, artwork, sound design and music are all fantastic. The gameplay is a bit clunky and simple but I still had a good time. Good vibes and emotional moments in equal measure.

Love the art and the charm. The game play is alright but feels floaty and kind of hard to get used to. Fun ideas for sure and there's probably lots left to see but I am finding it too frustrating to continue atm. Better conveyance would be my biggest suggestion for any future outing. I don't need a novel's worth of text but knowing what pick ups do and getting an idea of what enemies do before you put yourself in their path would be great.

Really wish there was a neutral option for posting but ill go with thumbs up for now since I think a lot of the issues I have most people probably wont.

Definitely a good example of needed a less binary rating system on Steam. Super Catboy has great things about it but mechanically falls a bit short.

PROs:
+ Fantastic sprite work
+ Really good music
+ Definitely a nostalgia driven design, Megaman, TNMT and DKC were definitely influences. If you like those you should be able to find something to like here.

Neutral:
~ Overall pretty short, no multiple endings or completion rewards that I could find. Some busier folks might like that, a lot would not for the price. Would suggest picking up on sale.

CONs:
- The biggest annoyance to my play through: Not getting i-frames on hits or getting inconsistent hit patterns on attacks. Losing anything from 2 pips of health to half my health from the same attack does not feel good. Sometimes the multiple bullets just juggle and kill you and that feels pretty bad.
- Some of the levels have some frustrating design choices that feel pretty random. Check point amounts and locations are decided seemingly at random and can really spike difficulty and tedium at random times.
- A major theme of Megaman which feels like the biggest influence on this game is the theme of growing stronger. I don't feel like I got stronger through out this game. The arsenal is like 90% your starter pistol and 10% random guns that you get for one screen and cant use during bosses or tough rooms. They feel so minimal which doesn't seem right for what should be a power up.
- 100% requirements for stages are very, very annoying with the stage design that was chosen. The coin pickups in particular should not be part of the scoring there.
- The minecart level felt particularly bad with the mechanics of this game. Just because its a classic, you don't have to do it as well. Very few people loved the minecart levels in DKC.

Whew, that was a doozy but well worth completing. That first run especially was so fun and creepy! Very inventive for a rather limited format and really impressive. Very proud of my fellow Montrealer for creating such a great game.
