The more I played, the more empty and soulless all that I had played up to that point became. The core game play loop is landing on a planet and you'll get the same spacers (bandits) in one of two cave maps, an "abandoned" building filled with more spacers that is still shiny new with one of four layouts and a bunch of settlers or scientist in a camp inexplicably a three to five minute walk away (everything on these generated maps is three to five minute walk away). You can get these maps by landing anywhere on a planet so there isn't much of a reason (base building is cumbersome and has no clear reward outside of enabling more base building) you'd not farm the same planetary body.

Most of the skill tree is a time sink you work to unlock gameplay that should already be available or just decreases frustration eg: spending skill points to decrease the number of unskippable "fast travel" cutscenes or running your character to exhaustion a few dozen times to unlock the privilege to be able to spend skill points on increasing stamina, simply to improve the monotony of walking the three to five minutes. I do not know why stamina isn't unlimited outside of combat.
