I love getting stuck in kill animation.
It could have been good had it not been for the animations being uninterruptable, meaning you cannot dodge or block on time.
Making the game unplayable, it's not "get good" it's simply god awful design.

I now remember why I hated Dead Island, when Dead Island was new I thought the blood, gore and settings was damn cool. But Riptide, oh boy. It's like a small expansion and oh so boring. Stay Away

Dead Island, even HD has aged like milk, the shaking camera, annoying Stamina Bar, boring layout.
The worst? Such annoying, whining characters. They don't develop in anyway, they're all just grouchy, sultry and whiny.
Take a page from John Romero movies in how to make fleshed out chars, all different types of people just getting unlucky ending up in the apocalypse. Here? It's almost designed to be the most annoying people I have every met. The only "ok" one is Sam. He keeps it real but he's just a bit boring.
It's a slugfest, the one good thing? It's ok with friends.
From what I read (other people comments) it's also very buggy, I had some small bugs but I didn't play as much as they did so can't really say personally.

Avoid this mess.

I can explain the game like this.

Nostalgia? Play it and don't stop.
First time? You'll enjoy it, respect it and enjoy the journey. But you'll most likely not come back to play it again (until like 10 years from now).

I remember playing it the first time and I do like this game and can highly recommend it.
but!
The first mission is "good" but the corridors makes it so confusing (might be alone on this one so take this subjectively)
However the last mission, oh boy, like corridors and a rushed ending? Me neither. It's awful.
Everything in between, really good and worth the time. (there's a short under water kinda area that I really didn't enjoy but it's fast over with so the rest of that mission is ok)

It's "very positive" for a reason and like I said, loved playing it. But I hold no nostalgia for it and after finishing it I felt no need to come back again any time soon.
But who knows, maybe a year or so from now I'll get the craving for it.

So overall I'd say it's good but wouldn't recommend to everyone.
Watch a few videos first on it and then make up your mind if it's for you.

Pretty good, nice music, nice Pixel art style.
Could never go wrong with a Western settings.
It's also fairly short, like 15 mins so won't take up your entire day.

All and All, a good 7/10, but since it's free more like an 8/10

I could not recommend it enough.

It has some "Quirks" that I initially didn't know what to make of but it creates a new Gameplay style that I love!
The best part, playing as Indy. Hands down, the voice acting is flawless from Troy Baker.
The environments are gorgeous and so fun to explore. It's just like playing a really long Indiana Jones Movie.
Fun quests, old tombs and crypts (none like the other, from small to big) and a bit of "Metroidvania" to it as well.
Even good puzzles, I'm not a puzzle kinda guy but here oh it's fun and even a bit challenging (you can select difficulty on puzzles even)

Neutral stuff
Combat and stealth... it's "eh"
nothing bad, nothing good either
basic stealth and combat but I have no problem with that
The Money system as well, I don't wanna spoil but it's part of the neiché. Not 100% how to feel on it

Critique though
There are some stuttering in some areas (usually loading areas but sometimes completely out of the blue) but otherwise for me, 0 issues. Though I have seen lots complain about this
Some people have even had issues starting the game (Console & PC)
I was genuinely shocked at how well it's even playing, I think it's the first big budget release I ever played that ran this smoothly (Pre-release even!)

The only major big think I can complain about is the rest of the voice actors, it ranges from "Decent" to "Ok" to "Bad".
I could live with that, but I donno what mics they gave them but I've heard better quality from phone calls from the early 2000's. Like audibly bad, especially with the NPC, dear god my ears...

All in all I don't regret pre-ordering the premium edition, well worth it and I got many more fun hours to add on to it.
Only things, maybe an optimization patch and better voice equipment but otherwise a solid safe buy!

8/10 (so far at least, we'll see how the rest of the game and the DLC holds up)

That more people aren't talking about this is shameful.
It's great and just offers so damn much and asks for nothing in return.

If you love the movie and strategy games, then it's right down your alley.
If only one or the other, give it a shot on a sale.

It's perfect for Strategy fans and Starship Trooper fans.
