This ain't your grandma's Star Wars game.

Harder than dark souls with it's clunky controls.

The game has a high learning curve and the community is mostly experienced players who've been on it for years now, but it's one of the best extraction shooters.

The combat in the game is hands down one of the best shooters I've played and the emphasis on listening to your surroundings and paying attention to environmental factors makes the fights more suspenseful and challenging.
Of course there's a lot of times you'll be bushwhacked or some one will charge you with a melee weapon and kill you in one hit, but these I find are mostly rare and in the majority of the scenarios I've been in has always been a good proper gunfight with each side trying to outsmart and outmaneuver the other.

When you die in the game, it can be infuriating and demoralizing when starting out, but that's when you learn how to position, get used to the weaponry and eventually you get your first kill and it is ecstasy every time hearing the death cry of your opponent in the distance as you landed that last shot on them, or even a well aimed head shot. I can't think of many other games where getting a kill feels rewarding and has instant feed back.

Hunt doesn't feel super punishing when you do die, and when you do extract with a bounty it feels very rewarding, and tenfold when you get a kill in the match. You're not trying to leave with loot that might be crucial in upgrading your base or weapons, but simply trying to leave alive with your hunter for the hopeful prospect of retiring them for a big reward of XP that will go into your bloodline, allowing you to unlock items. There's also a prestige system too that gives the player some pretty nice rewards for doing so.

As for weapons and items, while you can find some in the game and extract with them to use later, you mainly will be unlocking them through your bloodline (The player's level) and can unlock variants of your different weapons by simply using them and gaining XP with that weapon. Unlike other extraction shooters where you might have to do a "naked run", going in with nothing but a pistol and a prayer to God; Hunt is more charitable with actually allowing you to play with the weapons you want to play with and enjoy. There is something similar in doing a naked run, in which you get a free hunter (Free as in not having to pay with in game currency to hire them) to play with and use, and who also come with their own variety of weapons as well, albeit random. There's some downsides to using the free hunters, but nothing that makes the game unplayable.

My biggest complaint of the game would be the excessive amount of skins and how much of a cash cow the game feels now verses how it felt back when it first came out. Besides a few updates that makes the game more enjoyable and balanced, addressing issues with playing solo, it does feels like it's a bit of a far cry from past updates that added new guns, enemies and other new content to sink your teeth into; though while the lack of big new content to the game is a bit of a complaint for me, it does feel refreshing to not have to play a game that is completely unrecognizable from when you first played it.

Overall I say to pick up the game if you like the western genre and extraction shooters, get in there, don't get frustrated and learn from your mistakes and before you know it, Hunt will start to shine through like the gem it truly it.

Well written, great message, will make you disappointed with other rpg maker games when you realize how few of them live up to the same level of quality.
