Excellent game. Probably the best zombie/survival game with story based events on steam right now. Simple combat, easy to learn and fun storyline makes this game appealing, and I recommend trying it. Now to reasons why this game is superior to its genre competitors.

State of Decay has randomized traits for each individual survivor, some of which add to the ability of said person.

The developers of the game listen to feedback and criticism, for instance prior to a recent update rubsacks (large resources a character can carry one at a time) or any items at all could not be loaded onto vehicles, but it is now possible.

The game incorporates the needs of humans, food, shelter (building resources), medical supplies to name a few. These items can be collected and brought back to the base that is set up and holding usually 5-10 people in the beginning, and these needs increase as further people are recruited or 'saved' from hordes. Characters when played also increase skill level of a variety of traits, combat, fitness and shooting are just some. Once high enough a greater upgrade is avaliable for that specific trait, such as 50% decrease of stamina used during combat for the fitness trait.

These are just some aspects of this game that stick out, there are many more that make this game a unique work in its genre. 8.5/10
