A brief; I am entirely terrible at the game. Despite the tutorial guiding (and on the lowest possible difficulty) I am still beaten due to inferior economy and military (in the first campaign and as a smaller kingdom).

The game is interesting and offers a unique style of gameplay where everything is done through letters. Want to build? Send a letter. Recruiting armies? Send a letter. Spy activities? Letters. So, you are basically reading letters most of the time, some may be important to you, some may not and the not so important may be an annoyance. Me being a tl;dr player, I skimmed through letters reading only the important parts of, say, a battle report, which is written in the POV of the General and can be.. pages long..)

Now, I have around 1-2 hours of gameplay so I may not have the best review of the game. (Only reason why it's a thumbs up is because the game is quite unique and challenging. It's just that I'm playing to not tryhard lol)

My friend told me this game is the best to commit warcrimes. Other than.. You know, managing, building, surviving... And the mods are lovely additions which is a must play with.

10/10 would play again with/without mods to restore the Roman Empire

Create your own fleet (Not really, best I could do is one mothership and an escort which takes 8/8 ship points)
Manage your crews like Rimworld. Fight aliens and rogue robots, engage in ship to ship combat + fighters + boarding parties. Watch your crews miss their shots. Enslave your enemies, befriend factions or destroy them. (Sell your crew as slave for credits #Notrecommended) Research, research and research! Have a whole section in your ship for farming so you don't run out of food. Explore, mine for resources (not food but water and other building and fuel minerals) then refine them into well needed resources; building, weapons, armours, fuels (for more advanced researched items)

Fun game though it would seems there should be more improvements in which is my own opinion. (Base commander, more ships points, play as a faction, maybe a bit more system points as well.)

No carriers? No problem. Just simply create and ♥♥♥♥ out battleships... Lots of battleships...


While the customisation of the ships are fun (too many numbers too which my brain will not seriously take into consideration), the battles feels off where at some point your ships might be just on standby even when their engines at full speed. Campaign? Yeah I don't know why a playable nation situated in the Far East sent a fleet to West Africa and North Sea in which they have no territories there instead of actually fighting the task force located at their regional waters.

Really think there's room for more feature(s) to be added in the game; More option(s) in campaign (Like not having to pay to avoid wars. Why do I have to pay some weak nation that has around a quarter of my existing navy? Aren't they suppose to try to not die?)

It's a very great game if you just want to chill and pass some time. Very chill/comfy BGM, straightforward tutorial/tips, WASD movement and hold & click.

While the gameplay is fun and all despite some unwanted individuals going against the way of democracy, the new PSN account requirement is absolute pain.
