I'm writing this review months after finishing the game, so my memory may be a bit hazy.

Far Cry 4 is such a forgettable experience in my eyes. It starts strong with being intercepted by Pagan Min as you were traveling to the Kyrat mountains to fulfill your dead mother's final wish. Turns out Pagan is your brother or something, idk, and you end up escaping and somehow get caught in a civil war where you are strung along by two annoying wannabe leaders with conflicting visions, apart from the fact that they want Pagan and his forces gone.

Far Cry 4 mechanically is very similar to FC3, some of the menus have been more refined, such as syringes auto crafting, pelts stack instead of taking up individual slots in your inventory and you no longer have to sacrifice a weapon slot if you wanted to repair a vehicle as he game just gives you a prompt now and you will already have it equipped. But that's about it; there isn't much else I can say about this game that is positive. Pagan Min is a cool and interesting villain, but he gets so little screen time that I was very disappointed when the game ended because there would be no more lore drops for him. He gets a couple of cutscenes, but you usually hear him talk to you on the phone throughout the game, which is such a lame way to show off a villain.

The story wasn't really all that special and was a step below FC3. Although there was one character who stood out, and that was Longinus, a minor character who is somewhat eccentric and deeply religious. Apparently, he was a former African Warlord who was shot in the head and miraculously survived and is now fully into Christianity. He wants to right his wrongs and retrieve the blood diamonds that he helped sell when he was a warlord, but he ended up in a messy civil war. He is an interesting dude in a sea of terribly written main characters, just wish he got more screen time.

The game visually looks good, better than Far Cry 3, especially in the color department. The small flags sit on top of the small statues or buildings, bringing life to the mountains, and so does the vegetation. It's no longer just green, but flowers are dotted around the place, which helps it pop with color. I did find the game more difficult than I would have thought to run. Played at Ultra at 2k and was averaging 80 FPS, which isn't bad, but I was expecting it to be higher. In large gunfights, the FPS drops down to 60 fps.

I'll just rattle off some more points here:

>Stealth somehow got worse than FC3. I've been detected through cover as well as being far away from the enemy.

>Outpost Master- Why?? If I have already liberated the outpost without being detected, then why the ♥♥♥♥ do I have to do it again? Seems like it was only added in as a challenge for people who wanted to speedrun Outposts. But as this challenge is tied to rewards, I think it is unnecessary.

>Grappling: Fun and neat mechanic that very quickly loses its novelty after a couple of hours. Want to go exploring? Grapple, want to find out where that question mark on your map leads to? Grapple and find out! Rinse and repeat 100 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ times because the game is set in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mountains and the devs couldn't get any more creative than this.

>The Molotov and the throwing knife symbols look nearly identical. It ♥♥♥♥♥ me off when I end up throwing a knife at a beehive instead of a Molotov, and I get stung to death by bees.

>Final mission is pretty underwhelming, tbh I wasn't really listening to the dialog and just waltzed through it until I saw Pagan Min and realized maybe this mission was important. The conclusion wasn't too bad, but it could have been better.

>♥♥♥♥ multiplayer achievements. It's a miracle I even managed to find other people playing this game to get them in the first place.

>The DLC was pretty bland and boring. The Valley of the Yetis was literally like starting from scratch again but there were Yetis roaming around that had to be killed. Just a waste of time honestly.

Overall, the game is very average, and honestly, I would recommend everyone to just straight up skip it.

I give this game a 4/10
