A perfect blend of twin stick shooter and metroidvania. Addictive gameplay, not too short nor too long. If you're just a bit used to bullet hell I strongly recommend playing at the higher difficulty, it's not that hard.

It's a good game, I had fun playing it; my only gripe is that it's really short and too easy (even on Hard), so buy it only if you have a lot of money and too little time.
Plus, to point out a couple of questionable design choices:
- random (I guess) upgrades with some awful choices (200 currency?)
- boss rush doesn't use your character's upgrades, which means you'll feel bad when you'll try to play it with the default character after beating the game with the upgraded one.

Still a fun game, but don't be fooled by the 97% positive reviews, it's no Hollow Knight.

I mean, it's MTG on PC and I need a review for the awards.

But the economy is questionable.

Well, it's a pretty good game. I decided to go for it after reading other reviewers comparing it to Golden Sun; well, as much as I liked it, Golden Sun this is definitely not.

Main criticism you can find about the game is:
- game is too easy: quite true, combat is hardly a challenge and puzzle are almost always pretty straightforward (both are toned down a lot compared to GS). That didn't prevent me from enjoying it, but if you're looking for a challenge you may want to look elsewhere.
- main characters are shallow: also true, they are basically a placeholder but I think it's intended and at least for me it worked (just like in GS).
- the story is bad: while the writing isn't always top notch, I respectfully disagree. Most of what happens in the second half of the game kept me more than interested and entertained (even if some things may feel a bit rushed).
- Garl is a forced character: yes and no. He's obviously over the top (and I too found him cringey at first), but he seriously grew on me and from a certain point it becomes clear he's the real star of the show, and maybe the thing I loved the most about the game.

The art, on the other hand, is breathtaking. Plus, endgame quests are pretty good and the reward is so damn wholesome it made it all worth it.

TL;DR: the game has its flaws, and it's not hardcore as fans of Golden Sun or other games could expect, but I spent 30 very happy hours playing it and it was enough for me.

Early Access Review
My god the game looks fun but the controls are just so awful, rotating the party the way you want feels straight up impossible. Plus you "can" use a gamepad but it's even worse (and the out of combat navigation is a pain), and it would be *so* simple to just use left stick to move and right stick to rotate the party (R direction to rotate clockwise, L direction for counterclockwise)... unless these issues are addressed I'm never touching it again.

Pretty good. Not really a metroidvania, it's more like an adventure platformer with some combat: it's very linear, no backtracking, little to no exploration.
Controlling all three characters isn't easy, but I didn't find it as frustrating as some other reviews pointed out.
Puzzles are the selling point for me, they're imho the best thing about the game; art is very good, music is ok but gets stale fast. Story is low effort.
It's also pretty short (5 hours gameplay if you don't rush it), so it's great if you have a bit of money to spend and little time to play, not so great if viceversa.

TL;DR: it won't change your life but it makes for 5 good hours of gaming.

Honestly I would have expected a higher score for this one. As a lover of metroidvanias, this game hits all the right spots for me:
-good combat
-good platforming
-good story
-good secret-hunting
-good soundtrack (end credit is a banger)
Backtracking is a little longer than I'd like, mainly because of too few fast travel points, but that never stopped me from enjoying a metroidvania if it's good enough (see Valdis Story).
Dodges have a little cooldown to avoid spamming it, and you can't use it to cancel backswing animations; this may feel clunky at first, but I think that's a totally reasonable game balance choice: play accordingly and don't be greedy with your swings.
It's not the blockbuster masterpiece that Hollow Knight or Ori are, but it's definitely entertaining enough, you can tell the amount of work and love the devs put in. Big thumbs up for me!

I keep coming back to this game, it's so so so good. Imagine Pokémon, but much deeper.
