Dead On Arrival - A Strategy Game Without Players

The Harsh Reality
🎮 Picture this: you boot up a PvP battle royale expecting matches, excitement, competition. Instead? Crickets. Sengoku:Battle Royal launched with ambitions of 5V5 strategic warfare, but the current state tells a completely different story. As of this review date, only 2 players were active in the last 24 hours. For a multiplayer PvP experience, this means the game is essentially unplayable. 💀

What Could Have Been
🎨 The concept genuinely intrigued me. A battle royale focused on strategy rather than reflexes? Playing as a daimyo commanding armies in Sengoku-era Japan? That's fresh! ⚔️ Troops fight automatically while you focus on territory control, army management, and tactical decisions. The idea deserves recognition.

  • ✅ Unique strategy-focused battle royale concept.
  • ✅ Automatic combat allows focus on macro-management.
  • ✅ Interesting Sengoku period setting and theme.
  • ✅ Can be genuinely fun with coordinated teammates.
  • ✅ Victory rewards strategic thinking over reflexes.
  • ✅ Game supports 10+ languages for international players.
  • ✅ 60-minute matches allow for deep strategic play.

What Actually Is
😤 Here's where disappointment sets in. The tutorial is practically non-existent. New players receive zero proper guidance on basic mechanics like troop recruitment, building priorities, or victory conditions. You're thrown into the deep end without learning to swim. 🏊

The In-Game Cash Shop raises serious concerns about pay-to-win mechanics. When competitive advantage can be purchased, skill becomes secondary to wallet size. This fundamentally undermines the strategic foundation the game claims to build upon. 💰

The Player Count Problem
📉 Let's address the elephant in the room. A PvP battle royale needs players. This game recorded only 2 players in the last 24 hours at the time of writing this review. For a 5V5 experience requiring 10 players per match, do the math - matches simply cannot happen without artificial bots or extreme wait times. This isn't a temporary dip - this is a death spiral. ⚰️

Price Versus Value
💸 The asking price feels disconnected from reality. Paying full price for a game with no tutorial, questionable monetization, and a ghost town player base? That's a hard sell. Your money buys frustration and empty lobbies.

  • ❌ Nearly non-existent tutorial for new players.
  • ❌ Official beginner guide lacks crucial information.
  • ❌ Critically low player count makes matchmaking impossible.
  • ❌ Only 2 players active in last 24 hours for PvP game at review time.
  • ❌ In-Game Cash Shop introduces pay-to-win concerns.
  • ❌ Price point does not match current game value.
  • ❌ Some technical bugs reported by community.
  • ❌ Steep learning curve without proper guidance.
  • ❌ 5V5 format requires 10 players - simply not available.
  • ❌ No indication of developer support or updates.
  • ❌ P2W mechanics undermine competitive integrity.
  • ❌ Empty matchmaking queues waste player time.

Final Thoughts
⚖️ Sengoku:Battle Royal represents everything frustrating about early access done wrong. The foundation might have potential, but potential doesn't fill lobbies. Potential doesn't teach mechanics. Potential doesn't justify price tags. 🎭

Wait for a miracle revival or substantial price drop. Until player counts recover and monetization concerns are addressed, this remains a cautionary tale rather than a recommendation.

Not Recommended - Skip This One until major improvements arrive.

Half-Life liminal.

Those two words popped into my head during one sequence. The industrial aesthetics, the dimensional weirdness, the sense of being watched - it briefly reminded me of why Half-Life felt so immersive back in the day. Then Project Liminal 2 went its own direction, and that's where things get interesting.

Stepping Between Dimensions

This game throws you into liminal spaces that feel wrong in the best way possible. Endless hallways, deserted pools, anomalous offices - each location builds tension without relying on cheap tricks. Reality bends around you, and the rules you expect don't always apply.

The Nuclear Engine keeps everything running smoothly even on modest hardware. Performance stays stable throughout, which matters more than flashy graphics when immersion is the goal. No HUD cluttering the screen means pure environmental focus.

Aliens and supernatural creatures lurk throughout these spaces. You won't be defenseless though - crowbars, hammers, shotguns and other weapons are at your disposal when confrontation becomes unavoidable. Some encounters require quick thinking, others demand you fight your way through.

The Good Stuff
  • ✅ Atmospheric liminal spaces that genuinely unsettle the player.
  • ✅ No HUD creates pure environmental immersion.
  • ✅ Reality-bending platforming adds unique gameplay layers.
  • ✅ Optimized performance on lower-end systems.
  • ✅ Variety of weapons available for combat encounters.
  • ✅ Supernatural threats keep tension consistent throughout.
  • ✅ Level design captures classic FPS aesthetic vibes.
  • ✅ Developer actively responds to player feedback and fixes bugs.
Where It Stumbles
  • ❌ Limited gameplay variety may feel repetitive for some players.
  • ❌ Short experience length leaves you wanting more substance.
  • ❌ Minimalist approach might frustrate those seeking action.
  • ❌ Story elements remain vague and open to interpretation.
  • ❌ Some encounters lack clear guidance on how to proceed.
  • ❌ Price point feels steep for the content offered.

Final Verdict

Project Liminal 2 understands what makes liminal horror work - it's about the spaces between, the silence, the feeling that something watches from just outside your vision.

Recommended for fans of atmospheric horror and players who appreciate environmental storytelling. Also worth your time if you have a lower-end PC that struggles with modern titles.

Skip this one if you need action-packed gameplay or clear narrative direction. Sometimes the scariest thing isn't what you fight - it's navigating spaces that refuse to make sense.

The dimensions are waiting. Step through if you dare. 🎮👻

College Life Like You've Never Seen It Before

Remember that feeling of stepping onto campus for the first time? The freedom, the uncertainty, the endless possibilities? FRESHMAN captures that energy and cranks it up to eleven. This isn't your typical slice-of-life visual novel - it's a wild ride through the adult side of university life.

What Makes This Experience Stand Out

The game puts you directly in the shoes of a college freshman with complete control over your decisions. Every choice matters and leads to different outcomes. The narrative flows naturally without feeling forced or repetitive. Character interactions feel genuine with distinct personalities that stick with you.

Visual presentation is clean and appealing. The art style matches the tone perfectly - playful yet polished. Music and sound design create the right atmosphere for each scene. Controller support works flawlessly for those who prefer gamepad over keyboard.

Steam community features are well implemented. Achievements feature adorable artwork that fits the game's aesthetic. Collectible trading cards are available for Steam profile customization. The points shop offers bonus items for dedicated players to unlock.

The Not-So-Perfect Parts

Content warnings should be taken seriously. This is explicitly an adult experience with mature themes throughout. Some story paths feel shorter than others. Price point might be steep for a visual novel of this length.

Final Thoughts

FRESHMAN delivers exactly what it promises - an unapologetic adult visual novel about college life. The choice-driven narrative keeps you engaged and curious about alternative paths. Whether you're here for the story, the characters, or the mature content, there's something to find.

Just know what you're getting into before diving in. This isn't a game to play with family nearby.

  • ✅ Engaging choice-based narrative with meaningful consequences.
  • ✅ Distinct character personalities that feel authentic.
  • ✅ Clean art style with appealing visual design.
  • ✅ Full controller support for comfortable gameplay.
  • ✅ Multiple endings encourage replayability.
  • ✅ Custom volume controls for audio preferences.
  • ✅ Adorable achievement designs that match the game aesthetic.
  • ✅ Steam trading cards available.
  • ✅ Points shop with bonus items for dedicated players.
  • ❌ Explicit adult content not suitable for all audiences.
  • ❌ Some story routes feel shorter than expected.
  • ❌ Price may be high compared to similar visual novels.
  • ❌ Limited gameplay mechanics beyond reading and choosing.

Verdict: Worth Your Time - if you're looking for a mature visual novel experience with genuine choices and consequences.

🕵️ Defective Detectives - A Noir Comedy That Made Me Laugh Out Loud! 🎮
Playtime: 2 hours (with multiple replays for all endings)
Verdict: ✅ RECOMMENDED

I just finished playing "Defective Detectives" and I have to say - this game completely surprised me. What could be a quick one-hour playthrough turned into 2+ hours of me savoring every joke, every screenshot, and replaying dozens of times to see all the endings. I literally laughed out loud multiple times!

Note: If you rush through without exploring branches, you can finish in under an hour. But why would you? The fun is in the detours!

🎭 What Makes This Game Special
This is a visual novel that perfectly blends noir aesthetics with absurd humor. You play as Detective Johnson - a grumpy veteran who's too old for this crap but needs to pay his mortgage - and his spectacularly dimwitted intern Billy. Together they investigate what seems like a simple case of a missing hamster... but things get wild.

The game constantly subverts your expectations. One moment you're in a moody noir scene with dark streets and cigarette smoke, the next you're facing a hamster mastermind in a jar demanding a champagne bath. The dialogue choices are brilliantly absurd - I've seen options like "Start Rap Battle" in a rodent-filled bar and "Give Billy into slavery for an hour" during negotiations.

😂 The Humor - Why It Works
  • Every single screen has jokes - in the dialogue, in the background art, in the character reactions
  • Multiple endings, many of them hilariously dark (my favorites involved becoming hamster slaves or getting buried in a car instead of a coffin)
  • Pop culture references that actually land (Titanic pose on the cover, Bruce Willis jokes, and more)
  • The post-Soviet humor hits hard if you understand it - "mosquitoes that suck mortgages instead of blood" had me dying
  • Even the "Game Over" screens are funny - you'll want to die just to see them all

🎨 Visuals & Sound
The hand-drawn art style is fantastic. Every scene is packed with details that add to the humor - like Billy covered in trash with a fish bone in his hair, or the drug-dealer beaver showing off his "corn" stash. The color palette shifts beautifully between moody noir tones and surreal green radioactive glows.

The music and sound effects are solid. There are even funny songs scattered throughout! The voice acting is robotic rather than professional, but honestly? It fits the game's self-aware, imperfect charm.

⚙️ Gameplay & Technical
  • Simple point-and-click visual novel mechanics
  • Excellent save system - easy to jump back to any story branch
  • Fast skip feature for replaying to see different endings
  • Lots of hotkeys for smooth navigation
  • Zero crashes during my entire playthrough
  • Runs on basically any PC (only 500 MB!)

✅ Pros
  • Original, high-quality humor on every screen
  • Tons of story branches and endings - great replayability
  • Perfect noir parody for genre fans
  • Great sound design and music
  • Family-friendly (no excessive vulgarity)
  • Incredibly affordable price - best value per laugh!
  • Russian and English language support
  • Short but sweet - perfect for a weekend evening

❌ Cons
  • Only 2 languages available at launch
  • Voice acting is robotic (but it works for the style)
  • You'll finish it too fast and immediately want MORE!
  • Some jokes may land better if you understand post-Soviet culture

🏆 Final Verdict
"Defective Detectives" delivers exactly what it promises - a hilarious, absurd noir adventure that doesn't take itself seriously. The chemistry between Johnson and Billy is perfect, the writing is sharp, and the multiple endings give great replay value.

Is it short? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. For the price of a cup of coffee, you get 1-2 hours of genuine laughs and a memorable experience. Some players will rush through in an hour, others (like me) will savor every moment for 2+ hours. Both ways are valid!

This game helped me relax, forget about real problems, and laugh like I haven't in a long time. I genuinely hope there's a sequel - I want more of these phenomenal detectives and their ridiculous cases!

Rating: 9/10 🌟

Recommended for: Fans of visual novels, noir parodies, dark comedy, and anyone who needs a good laugh. Perfect for a cozy evening when you want something light but clever.

Thanks to Reanim Games and STuNT for this gem! Now please make a sequel! 🙏

Dark PGT - Not a Game, But a Twisted Soviet Psychedelic Art Object 🎮🧠

Folks, I just finished Dark PGT and I'm still processing what the hell I just experienced.
This isn't really a game in the usual sense - it's more like a bizarre, one-man art installation dropped straight into Steam. A raw, unfiltered trip into an alternate 2030 where the USSR never ended, and everything is soaked in madness, blood and pitch-black humor. Made by a single developer on Unreal Engine 5, it feels like a personal fever dream you get to walk through.

Atmosphere & Story

You play as a military alcoholic with schizophrenia and heavy hallucinations. You arrive in a cursed village and immediately lose any grip on what's real. Enemies might be actual mutants or just your own broken mind playing tricks. Mutant grannies yelling from balconies, street prophets screaming prophecies, chunks of meat, severed limbs, rivers of blood - all wrapped in dark comedy that had me laughing out loud in the middle of pure chaos. The plot is full of wild twists and philosophical gut-punches about reality itself. Your brain gets thrown into a meat grinder, and somehow it feels... oddly satisfying.

Gameplay
Combat is pure souls-like hell, but even more unforgiving. No leveling, no safety net, no comfort shield - just you, your sword and raw reflexes. Enemies are ruthless, patterns are brutal but fair. Beating a boss after 30+ attempts feels like ascending to another plane of existence. The UE5 visuals are stunning in their grim beauty: constant rain, thick fog, blood everywhere, a decaying Soviet village that looks alive and wrong at the same time.

Pros

  • ✅- Graphics on Unreal Engine 5 look genuinely impressive for a solo project.
  • ✅- Completely unique setting and black humor you won't find anywhere else.
  • ✅- Atmosphere of pure chaos and madness that gives real chills.
  • ✅- Everything is so broken, unpredictable and insane that it becomes strangely hilarious and mesmerizing.
  • ✅- If you treat it as an art object rather than a regular game, the "flaws" suddenly make perfect sense.
  • ✅- Tiny price (especially on discount) for an experience worth a million.
Cons

  • ❌- If you're looking for a normal, polished game - you'll probably be disappointed or even culturally shocked.
  • ❌- Way too hard and confusing for casual players or anyone who doesn't enjoy black humor.
  • ❌- There are bugs, optimization issues and not much content, but they honestly feel like part of the artistic concept.
  • ❌- No progression at all - your only tools are skill and patience (the game literally tests how much you can take).
Final Thoughts

I've never seen anything like Dark PGT before, and I probably never will again. I can't even call it a "game" anymore - it's a unique, deranged art object made for a very specific audience of collectors and weird-fiction lovers.

If you crave something completely new, you're not afraid of extreme difficulty, bugs or total mind-screw storytelling, and you appreciate black humor and unhinged narratives - grab it without hesitation. For such a tiny price you'll get a storm of impressions you'll remember for years. After this, every other game might suddenly feel too safe, too logical, too... normal.

Highly recommended for the right kind of mad soul. 🔥

Radiance of Souls is an atmospheric indie horror game with exploration and puzzle-solving elements. You play as Elena, who arrives at the abandoned island station «AURA» searching for her brother, only to gradually uncover the island's dark secrets.
The game draws you in with its tense atmosphere, mysterious storyline, and well-timed jump scares, while its short playtime (1.5–2 hours) makes it perfect for a single evening session.

Since the game has just been released, it still has some bugs and rough edges. For instance, there's currently no save system, and the exit button doesn't work properly. During my playthrough, I accidentally got stuck in a wall due to a texture glitch and had to restart. However, given the game's short length and the fact that I already knew how to solve the puzzles, I quickly made my way back to where I left off.

Considering that the developer has promised ongoing improvements and updates, and that the current price is quite low, Radiance of Souls is definitely worth your time and money.

If you enjoy stories with gradual mystery reveals, puzzle-solving, psychological tension, and don't mind a good scare (no spoilers here!), this one is probably worth a try.

The Darkness That Consumes More Than Light

The Survival Trap
There is a specific feeling when you wake up in a survival game. You are cold. You are hungry. You are vulnerable. In DARKEST DAYS, this feeling is intentional. But this warning comes from seeing too many friends vanish into digital voids. They talk about resources like groceries. They schedule lives around server wipes. They stress over virtual shelters more than real security. This game is not a test of survival. It is a test of your willingness to surrender time. It asks for your days. It asks for your nights. And it promises nothing but temporary safety in a world that does not exist.
If you value your future, understand what you sign up for.
The Illusion Of Progress
