I thought for some reason that Mudrunner Old Timers was a separate game with it's own executable. I was disapointed to find that it's just one new map that has two American trucks. Nowhere does it say: To play this "game", just load the Rocky Hills map. I should have known because it is described as a DLC and is offered for free.
I have played many community-made custom maps in the Original Spintires game (1,582 Hours at the time of this review). So with my experience, I can give a pretty accurate breakdown of the map Rocky Hills. It is a spartan map with hardly any custom object content. With that being said, I still like it because:
  1. It has few trails, which makes the player choose his own path through the wilderness.
  2. The elevation of the hills makes the player choose his path much more carefully.
  3. Does not have a garage. The trucks must be used the way they are given, no optional outfitting.
  4. Add the above points together and you've got yourself a Hardcore map.
The main reason I wanted to play Old Timers is because I love older American vehicles and the thought of driving an old American truck in Mudrunner excited me. The modelling of the two trucks seem spot-on.
Breakdown of the two trucks:
  1. The sound of the Chevrolet Napco 3100 at idle is wonderful and has that classic American V-8 sound, love it!
  2. The speed of the Chevrolet Napco 3100 is too fast and needs to be adjusted to match the other trucks.
  3. The GMC DW950 is a rear-drive only truck which makes it very difficult to drive in muddy terrain.
  4. The GMC DW950's horn is wrong. It's a semi truck that has air horns, but sounds like a small passenger car horn.
  5. The sound of both truck's engines while driving need to better. The Chevrolet Napco 3100 no longer sounds like a V-8, just a messy generic crap-fest. The GMC DW950 sounds better than the Chevrolet Napco 3100 while driving, though it does not sound like a true 6-71 Detroit Diesel. These sounds need to be fixed to match the overall good modelling of both trucks.
Overall, I do recommend this Old Timers DLC, with a few disapointments.

Four years ago I made a review on Rust & recently I began playing again. I wanted to create a new review because the old one was outdated & I had more to say about Rust than I had originally posted.

My original EARLY ACCESS REVIEW Posted Mar 31, 2015:

Not Recommended
"I used to think this was a cool game and couldn't wait to see what the devs added in future updates. Now I couldn't care less. If you like being trolled unmercifully, then by all means go ahead and get your own copy of the game. It's just a complete wast of time to gather the necessary materials to build a base only to have 3 or 4 players slaughter you, take everything and destroy your base. You literally end up with nothing and have to start all over, only to have it all taken away again and again. I've uninstalled this garbage called a game. This should not be called Rust and should be called Troll Heaven."

I would also like to share one of the comments originally posted by "madameotter" on Apr 26, 2015 that makes a great point:

"Yeah, it's basically make friends or die, but that doesn't make it a bad game. I've made countless friends and enemies, forged alliances, ♥♥♥♥-talked in chat and been raided; it's all part of the game. The people who have the worst times tend to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, bad at pvp, or have some kind of social disability. I get about 3-4 frames a second when an explosion goes off, but I have built some of the most armored bases on the server. Why? Because I have friends."

I made my review based on solo PVP & Early Access game play. Now, four years later, I'm playing PVE & using Rust as a building game, a bit like a more modern & mature Minecraft. Here are some new points I would like to say about Rust:

1. The graphics were gorgeous then & still are, perhaps even more so.

2. The developers have totally revamped many aspects of Rust & are still active adding new content & working out bugs.

3. The building aspect has a stability mechanics system that can make building quite interesting.
4. The survival aspect (health, hunger, thirst & Artificial Intelligence) seems well balanced.

5. The new keycard puzzles for monuments is a pretty neat addition.

6. The way the developers have included boating & diving in the ocean is really fun.

7. The procedural maps are awesome compared to Rust's legacy single boring map.

8. The addition of electricity is pretty cool.

I'm sure I'm leaving out a bunch that I can't think of at the moment, but you get the idea. Playing PVP I suppose can be fun if you have friends to play with & you realize that it's all just a game anyway; it's just not for me. I'm having a good time playing PVE, as you may be able to tell by this review. I also hope that this review helps folks decide on whether or not to purchase Rust, just pay attention to the System Requirements, as this game is resource intensive even on a modern PC. Cheers.

Spin Tires is the premier 4x4 game available today. It's physics and graphics blow away any other 4x4 game on the market. If you want an off-road simulation game, then look no further than Spin Tires. It does have a few bugs, but those are over-shadowed by the fun that can be had playing a game with friends. Just when you think you've got a map or a route figured out, everything can and may go wrong. You may have taken a trail a few dozen times before without fault, then suddenly find your truck buried in the mud or worse yet, rolled onto it's side, dumping your load of lumber in the process. I keep playing it for the unpredictability inherent in such a game. You just never know how the game will play out. You may complete a game without fail or you may fail, fail and fail again. In my opinion, the best part of the game is when you fail, then overcome your fail by getting that truck out of the situation you put it in, then use it to deliver a load to the objective.
