Developers promised a return to the 'old ways' of Diablo 2. What they meant was they'd make better use of low-light/dark environments. It is just a re-skinned Diablo 3 with the same 'TEN MILLION POINTS OF DAMAGE!' visual cues meant for children with short attention spans. No return to a proper skill tree that you can plan and customize - just unlock and click whatever you want. No dark Gothic undertones. No sense of an oppressive, looming threat. No well-timed jokes. No innovation.

This is just 'Woah, demons are bad, but you're The Hero!' copy/paste storyline and gameplay. Better off getting Path of Exile or Diablo 2: Resurrected if you want to play a proper game.

Noticeable upgrades from the 'Legacy' version, faster loads, the works.

But no chat. It feels so quiet and dead, even when playing with others. This being fixed(or implemented if they chose to remove it?) is an absolute must. I would rather have 10 minute loading screens than to just play an online game with zero interacting with other players. You can't coordinate, you can't compliment, and you can't teach new players anything.

It just feels cold and empty without the ability to chat.

EDIT: Two months after release and they have ignored all requests or questions related to re-enabling the chat feature. It's a port from a console and they aren't willing to pay the extra $100 for someone to work overtime on the weekend to enable the feature that's in the code, but has a few bugs to work out. Classic R* putting pennies before players.

Honestly, it really is that good of a game. I am REALLY stingy with my money, and I'd still pay full price for it now. Definitely worth it.

tl;dr Chucklefish is a horrible, money-blind publisher that should be removed from Steam if it held any ethical backbone(but the almighty dollar told Steam not to). Do not support them by purchasing their games.

Charging $10 for a performance patch.. It was a fun game, but it's clearly just a money-grab attempt to nickel and dime consumers.

Very active, but all but significant disadvantage for new players against those that are properly geared. 100+ hours of grinding is required to get even get a fair fight in a 1v1 against P2P players.

I avoided this game because of the release of it. You all remember "A sense of pride and accomplishment." We all do. I only got this because it was on sale for $20 and did some research. Turns out they've removed micro transactions from the game completely, and now you only gain an advantage over other players through playing the game.

Overall, it's a 7/10 for me. It's a fun Battlefield game, but the customization doesn't feel as solid as it could be, and some there's not many modes to play. I'd like a couple more types to add to variety, but it's still fun overall.

Update! It's 4 months later, and the lobbies are pretty empty. There's usually just one match running, and -surprise surprise- it is full, which means you'll sit in the lobby with a couple others, unable to start because there are not enough players. Considering this issue, I'd have liked to see the developers allow empty lobby slots to be filled by AI players so that you can still play the game on slower nights. Sadly though, the developers have stated the game is exactly what they want it to be at, so no future updates. 4/10 for Dev's imagination, and I do not recommend buying any longer now that the main staple of the game is not playable without getting lucky.
