I'm a token millennial that was into the X-Games, played thousands of hours of the THPS series, but never skated myself. Once THPS could turn off auto kick, I would just find "realistic" lines in the game. Never got into Skate for some reason. I always wanted a game that felt like the videos I grew up watching and the competitions I looked most forward to. I never cared about vert. It was always street.

I say all that to say: Session is a dream come true. I spent quite some time tweaking sliders to get the feel I wanted. I messed with all of the control options to find what I felt was challenging and manageable for me to learn. It's been difficult, rewarding, and so fun. I find myself spending an hour working on one line. Figuring out how to set it up just right. It's been amazing. I'm barely into the story and I spend more time skating around than I do progressing it.

This is the best skating game out there.

People complain about the story and the relationship building. It's not nearly as bad as people complain. It's decent. If you are into these characters, you will probably appreciate the conversations.

The combat is amazing. The deck building is interesting. You can net deck or do what feels good to you. Both are viable.

The boss battles are interesting.

The final sequences are unique but unexpected.

I didn't love the ending but it did wrap the story up.

8/10. Glad I played it.

Two days later: Game won't go beyond a black screen.

2/25/24: Seem to have fixed a lot of the issues. I'm all about spilling oil and spreading democracy. A lot of depth there if you want to find it.

5/6/24: Another fumble with the PSN situation. If it wasn't for the removing from countries and poor communication, I wouldn't mind this decision. But I'm pretty disappointed in Sony and that reflects poorly on Arrowhead. Suck but that's the way it goes.

This game is really fantastic. But you have to change the controls.

If you like stealth//puzzles, this is a great game. The setting feels unique and the art direction is solid. But I really did hate the game until I found those controls to change the camera to WASD.

Still in Early Access but I am a big fan of what they're doing. It's quick. It's fun. It's hockey with a bunch of slap shots and hard slams. Really love where this is and where it is going.

Definitely the most "hardcore" survival game I've played. Both stories are amazing and the base building in survival mode is fantastic.

If you're on the fence and love survival games, go for it. This + Subnautica are the top solo experiences IMO.

Top 3 Metroidvanias I've played. Cannot recommend this enough.

Takes the last game and keeps on giving. For the type of game it is, it's one of the best modern day versions.

One of the best solo story games I have ever played. A psych-thriller meets action game. Damn near perfection.

I love stealth games. I love TBS games. This combines stealth and turn based strategy. It is amazing.

I am not a huge fan of the setting but it works perfect for this type of game.

My only true complaint is the length of the game. I decided to restart whenever someone died. I messed up the first play through and beat it the second. I think you can beat it in one sitting if you've got 4-6 hours to kill. I hope they make more. The story was cool and it's the first game I've finished and thought "an expansion would be awesome!"
